L'Ostricaro Fish & Love — Restaurant in Rome

Coming from an LA, California girl, this place hit 5 stars for me!

It is giving chíc, romantic vibe. The chairs, the set up, the location, the decór, the quality, the food... All of these were 💯!

I went on a Monday, and during the off peak Italian dinner hours and it was wonderful! I'm certain this place does extremely well during the summer.

I ordered the fish of the day which was bluefish, a local 🐟. Also ordered the crispy tuna meatballs and they were delish!

My friend ordered the crispy tuna, I didn't try it my friend ate the whole plate!

If you have allergies tell them in advance as i asked if there were any veggies and it ended up having capers, which I'm allergic to. The waitress and chef were very kind to remake the dish without them which I didn't expect because I don't like to need with Italian chefs original dishes. I know that eating in Italy is an art. Very grateful they accommodated.

The chairs were comfortable. We got there at sunset. They have outside seating that is also decorated and because it was so cold after the sun went down, we went inside.

It is off the beaten path so if you're staying in central Rome, unless you're heading over to Ostia this week be a trek, and in my opinion worth it!

I could absolutely see myself having a girls dinner here, with the way they have it decorated inside.

For a real romantic feel be there during sunset and sit outside!

Went to this restaurant as our last night in Rome. It had a nice menu and vibe. Food was ok but service was horrible. Was told they couldn’t make any of the cocktails on the menu even though there was a fully stocked bar as soon as you walk in. The waitress was serving friends of hers eating off their plate in the middle of the restaurant. She took away our dinner plates and did not return to ask if we wanted dessert, another drink or coffee. After waiting for 25 minutes with no service, no drinks we got up to leave and waited another 15 minutes at the bar for her to return and we could pay. AGIORNAMENTO DI LUGLIO 2023: Dopo che il proprietario ha ottenuto la rimozione da parte di Google della mia recensione perché avevo allegato screenshot della sua risposta piena di accuse, aggiorno la recensione rimuovendo la foto ed inserendo un estratto testuale della sua risposta accusatoria, qui di seguito, nell’eventualità la rimuovesse o aggiornasse da google:

“Non credo sia mai stato nel nostro locale... Per la qualità delle materie prime, e per la qualità del servizio che diamo... La sua recensione non ha fondenti...tranne che quel uno le ha chiesto di”

Qui la mia replica al locale: Leggo ora la risposta del locale… e decido di replicare: non C’è nulla di peggio di una gestione delle recensioni che si basi sulle accuse di non aver visitato il locale. Ovviamente sono stato presso il vostro locale, due volte. La prima su consiglio e nonostante sia stato personalmente deluso (magari è una questione di gusti) l’aspetto più deludente è stato il rapporto qualità-prezzo rispetto ai tanti eccellenti locali del lungomare, a mio parere il punto più dolente. Nonostante ciò ho deciso di tornare dopo qualche settimana e dare una seconda opportunità al locale, provando soprattutto le crudità, consapevole che sarebbero state il punto di forza del locale. Sfortuna (?) vuole che le due ostriche mangiate presso di voi mi han causato i classici spiacevoli problemi delle ostriche crude non troppo fresche (che per questo mollusco in particolare sono particolarmente fastidiose). Sono certo che sia stato un episodio sfortunato, il locale non avrebbe la sua reputazione altrimenti, ma la mia esperienza è stata negativa non una, ma ben due volte.

Detto ciò il vero punto dolente è la gestione della recensione, molto più elegante sarebbe stato un messaggio di rammarico per la cattiva esperienza ed un invito a tornare, per ricredermi, invece che un messaggio sgrammaticato (fondente invece che fondamenti?). Il risultato finale? Invece che una anonima recensione da una stella ora vi trovate un messaggio dettagliato della mia esperienza nel confronto con voi sulla base del quale altri clienti potranno trarre le loro...
