Le scalette — Restaurant in Sabaudia

We arrived in time for our reservation and were told our table would be ready in 5 mins - eventually we were seated 25 mins later.

We have been here in the past, and liked it enough to return. However, the prices are no longer in line with the quality and quantity of the food.

Marinated anchovies were fine, but a small portion considering the price; the bread was stale. I was especially disappointed with the spaghetti alla vongole: only a couple of clams and undercooked pasta…

Annoyed and hungry, I placed a negative review similar to this one while still in the restaurant, and told the waiter the meal was very disappointing. When we tried to pay, the meal was comped - so I removed my review on the spot, as I thought that was fair.

Le Scalette è conosciuto da tutti come "Fernando alle scalette" ; Fernando, il titolare, purtroppo i primi di maggio del '22 ci ha improvvisamente lasciati generando un grande vuoto in tutti quelli che hanno avuto la fortuna di conoscerlo. Uomo mite e buono, sempre gentile e disponibile. Buon riposo caro Fernando. L' attività va sempre avanti grazie alla sua famiglia e ai meravigliosi ragazzi che lavorano lì; per tutti rimarrà sempre " Fernando alle scalette". Sul lungomare di Sabaudia in direzione Torre Paola sulla sinistra troverete il chiosco bar/ristorante di Fernando; un bellissimo chiosco aperto tutta la stagione anche la sera. Bar sempre in funzione e servizio ristorante pranzo e cena. Si sta bene e si mangia benissimo, l' ambiente è informale e molto familiare. Se si vuole mangiare qualcosa di particolare, si può ordinare per tempo e poi gustare qualsiasi specialità. Di fronte al chiosco ci sono le scalette che scendono alla spiaggia dove Fernando ha il suo stabilimento con servizio sdraio lettini e ombrelloni oltre al bellissimo mare di Sabaudia. Anche giù al mare c'è la possibilità di avere un servizio bar e anche la possibilità di mangiare. Gli instancabili ragazzi porteranno la vostra ordinazione su al chiosco e vi serviranno quello che volete sulla spiaggia. Non ho dato 5 stelle per un solo motivo che senz'altro non è imputabile a Fernando ma alla esistenza delle meravigliose dune di sabbia presenti su tutto il lungomare. Questo fa si che la strada si trovi molto più in alto rispetto alla spiaggia e al mare di conseguenza per scendere sono necessarie delle scalette e questo accade su quasi tutto il lungomare specialmante nel tratto verso il monte e Torre Paola. Questo è un problema per tutti gli stabilimenti e rende praticamente impossibile raggiungere il mare per i portatori di handicap. Sarebbe il caso che la nuova Giunta che arriverà ( elezioni il 12 giugno 22) risolva questo scandaloso problema. Per il resto " Fernando alle scalette" lo consiglio veramente a tutti. Si sta benissimo e sono tutti gentili. Ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. Buona...

I went there for dinner with my boyfriend and we had antipasto delle scalette, pasta vongole and seafood risotto. Excellent in every way. Run by a passionate sincere family. Generous servings. Creative dishes. Sicilians expect only the best when it comes to seafood. And my Sicilian was very satisfied with everything. Also, great service. The waiter was casual, professional and courteous. PS..I'm referring to Le Scalette by the road. Which does not provide a sea view. Le Scalette on the beach is run by the same people but I think the menu is limited (I think) and does not run a dinner service, only panini...
