Estranei alla zona, ci siamo incamminati tramite consiglio di un amico verso il "Cantinon". Struttura davvero caratteristica, molto accogliente il proprietario (Dante), che all'entrata ci ha offerto un calice di prosecco accompagnato da crostini con sopra del lardo aromatizzato, davvero un ottimo inizio. Accomodati, abbiamo iniziato a dare un’occhiata al menù, vista la nostra voglia assoluta di carne, abbiamo optato solo per un piccolo antipasto a centrotavola, comprendente un po’ di tutto ("benvenuti" 20€) e poi si è deciso per ben 4 kg di carne succulenta, ovviamente al sangue. Per quanto riguarda l'antipasto, il crudo si scioglieva in bocca, la rosa di manzo e la battuta, sublime, il formaggio caprino molto leggero e soffice. Per quanto riguarda le bistecche prese, un sapore speciale e la presentazione da parte del sig. Dante, una vera e propria lode alla bistecca, da oscar. Accanto alla carne venivano date delle patate al cartoccio con del lardo da spalmarci su, divine. Infine abbiamo preso una fetta di torta, leggerissima e buona e un po’ di grappino giusto per dare ordine alla nostra digestione. Oltre al buon Dante, il personale è stato professionale ed era molto preparato a qualsiasi nostra richiesta, senza tralasciare il loro sorriso sempre acceso, cosa che in Friuli non è proprio una prerogativa per chi ti serve, almeno secondo la mia esperienza. Infine confermo la mia ottima esperienza e conto di ritornarci.

Abbiamo cenato sabato 13 agosto, in due persone, un tavolino appartato, ambiente molto soft con musica di sottofondo e un bel gioco di luci all’interno di uno dei locali storici di San Daniele. Con questa nuova gestione, abbiamo apprezzato la cordialità unita alla professionalità di Barbara e Francesco che ci hanno consigliato sul menù e sul piatto della sera, un risotto alla salsa di ravanello rosso con il formaggio “Formadi Franc”. Un piatto a dir poco unico e delizioso per il mix di sapori e il giusto connubio gustoso. Come antipasto un classico che non po' mancare, un piatto di prosciutto DOC di San Daniele, un 24 mesi tagliato finissimo e dal colore rosato, da sciogliersi in bocca. Siamo passati ai dolci, tutto fatto in casa e come per il caso della macedonia, tagliata sul momento, assieme ad una strisciata di gelato al limone da cornice. Il Tiramisù, pure fatto in casa, sapori come non si trovano più…riscoperti in questo splendido e rinnovato locale. Ritorneremo sicuramente, ce lo siamo ripromessi a Barbara, per la fiorentina alla brace! Rinnovo i complimenti per la nuova gestione di questo locale e consigli a tutti questa esperienza. Non da poco l’ottimo rapporto qualità (sopra la media) e prezzo. A rivederci presto!

They took great care of me during my quarantine period in Italy. I was on a business trip to San Daniele, but tested positive for Covid before I could return home. I had to isolate in the hotel next door, and all of my meals were delivered from this restaurant. During those 10 days, I tried most of the menu, and everything was great. They were so nice that they even added 5 more dishes to the menu just for me, so I would have more things to choose from, and some of my favorite dishes came from that extended menu. At the end of my quarantine, they invited me to dine in in person so I could meet them, and they even gave me a free dessert. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the location itself is very pleasant. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to expectations — it was rather unremarkable considering the price point. In particular, the spaghetti with Prosciutto di San Daniele was disappointing: the ham tasted more like it came from a packaged product rather than being freshly sliced, which was quite noticeable since we had recently tried it at a prosciutteria where the flavor was far superior. Looking at older photos on Google, it also seems the menu used to be broader and more varied, so the current reduced selection feels like a missed opportunity. Absolutely amazing service and performance by Dante. The food was outstanding from start to end. The setting is top notch and makes for an amazing place for a large group dinner with long tables holding 14 people each. All cuts of meat are served off platters by the staff and it keeps coming till you say "no more." Its BYOW so make sure to bring your best bottles to savor with your steak escepad night. Your going to be entertained and wowed all night I promise you that. My group of 13 sure was. Note that they have vegetarian menu options available as well which I was shocked to see but impressed to see how they actually did make it look good none the less.
