Our car group stayed here as part of a week long tour, and I did not believe that it is still a Relais, which is verified by checking the relaischateaux.com website. The location was convenient for us and known to the group a decade ago, but has fallen on hard times. The restaurant is now a separate business from the hotel, which was awkward during meals for the group. Public areas have cobwebs that appear to have been there for years, and paint touch up and maintenance in the rooms from normal wear and tear has been zero. We walked in the neighborhood and found it to be an upper class area, but the hotel is another story. Restaurant staff were out in the parking lot looking at the dozens of special interest cars, but it turns out that they were looking IN THE CARS, and returned that night to break a piece of our car window in an unsuccessful attempt to steal a bottle of wine. The neighborhood is so nice that I did not suspect that the thieves were from within the property, as we normally leave nothing in plain sight inside the cars. You can find something nicer. We...
Read moreWe had to stay in Friuli during Christmas and have chosen this hotel (not a real Relais I must say) last minute. We only wanted a clean and calm room. They gave us a 2nd floor room with a fantastic mountain view. They cleaned the room every day. The heating system was perfect, stable and not too warm, not too cold. The staff was very kind. The price was fair and half than the other hotels we tried before (which don’t even deserve) surrounding our place. So I had doubts first, but we have seen only a few old people as guests. No music, no screaming children. It was like heaven- The walls are thin and you can hear every step and crack in that countryside silence but we were lucky to have decent people as neighbor-guests. We enjoyed the great panorama and visit San Daniele center everyday. There’s a modern looking restaurant in the hotel just in case you don’t want to leave. We will definitely turn back when we need...
Read moreEverything stayed for 2 nights, the hotel is in a very good location, overlooking San Danielle de Friuli and the mountains surrounding it. The building and rooms could use some renovation and a general update but the room was clean and spacious enough. Bring shampoo, they provide only miniature shampoo bags for some strange reason. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, no vegetables or salads, no bacon, no eggs of any sort, basically nothing warm. Just 2 types of cheese, prosciutto, 1 type of bread, salami, and some cereal, yogurt, juices and spreads. A bit more than a continental breakfast, the only great thing about it was a professional coffee machine. Overall a nice place to stay if you're coming to San...
