La Grotte Resort — Restaurant in San Donato Val di Comino

We stayed here for 3 weeks for our honeymoon my husband is from San donato and we go back every year the hotel is situated just below the village in the most peaceful and quiet spot the gardens are lush and beautifully manicured the bedrooms are enormous the ensuite bathrooms are also a good size there is a TV in the room a fridge and anything you want just ask nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful hosts then there is the food! Where do I start if you stay full board which is what I would recommend the breakfast is all fresh and delicious at lunch and dinner you can have the traditional 6 plates or if like me that's too much just choose a starter and a main the waiters are only too happy to help and advise they have a wonderful swimming pool and ample parking if you want a little slice of heaven this is the only place to stay in the area I love it it is a little old fashioned to some but in this part of Italy that's not unusual and adds...

Parlerò solo del ristorante: siamo andati l'altro ieri sera per un tavolo di 14 persone. Servizio: da dimenticare. Arriviamo un pò prima delle 20h: al momento di scegliere il menù il cameriere ci chiede di sbrigarci sennò si fa troppo tardi; poi ci dice di non chiedere troppe specialità differenti sempre per lo stesso motivo...non fare tardi! Risultato: antipasti presi uguali per tutti ma mancava una specialità su quattro. Primi: ricevuto quelli richiesti ma dopo un'ora! Secondi: anche loro dopo un'ora dai primi ma anche lì un errore di numero (braciola di vitellina di troppo ma servita uguale...per i grandi mangiatori???). Contorni: patatine fritte, al forno e insalata mista...Le prime arrivano, quelle al forno sono finite ma il cameriere ce lo dice solo al momento di servire...Inoltre servite mezz'ora dopo i secondi. A proposito della tagliata Angus: era "sparata" nei piatti in tutte le direzioni??? Ogni pezzo sembrava aver fatto la guerra all'altro! Per i dolci abbiamo chiesto, è vero, all'ultimo minuto, una candelina su un dolce per il compleanno di mio nipote di 19 anni...il cameriere si è presentato con una candela col numero 7 perchè non aveva nient'altro...disperazione intensa! Poi finalmente il conto (era mezzanotte passata!): ci avevano contato la braciola di vitellina in più (errore loro ma pagata uguale), le patatine al forno "fantasme" e l'antipasto "incompleto". Volevo segnalare uguale il dilettantismo del servizio: finisce la prima bottiglia di vino, ne chiediamo una seconda...tempo di esecuzione: 45 minuti! Poi sparecchia il tavolo tra primi e secondi con le posate...arriva la carne e metà della tavolata si ritrova senza! Assurdo! Molti di voi diranno che erano "sovraccarichi" di lavoro (era comunque un lunedì) ma non è comunque una scusa. Non si sono scusati per niente e in più ci facevano pagare di più se non stavamo attenti. La cosa positiva è che mi hanno "visto" una volta e che sarà anche l'ultima! Anzi no, c'è un altro punto positivo: il luogo è bello e gradevole: peccato per tutto il resto. Buona fortuna ai...
