La Locanda Del Borgo — Restaurant in San Gimignano

We have eaten here a couple of days ago, with our 2 kids. Food was ok-ish, but not great. Service was very very poor. Probably the worst restaurant experience in my life! Everything took ages, when we asked the waiter, he said he would be right there, but he never came back (multiple times). Pizza's for the kids were served 1 hour(!!!) after our main course, we asked multiple times. And it were the wrong pizzas... The kids were starving. The desserts were served 1 at a time, with 15 minutes between them. We didn't wait for the last one, we left. Waiter never came to apologize, also never came to ask if we needed anything, no drinks on the house as excuse, etc.

Looking around us, it seemed that we were not the only ones who were disappointed.

Again, worst restaurant...

Rimodulo una precedente recensione effettivamente troppo poco lusinghiera: capisco che di questi tempi si campi molto di recensioni online e che lavorare col pubblico (cosa che peraltro faccio io stesso) sia difficile. Ritengo però che rispondere a una recensione negativa asserendo che l'opinione sia errata in quanto o l'ospite ha sbagliato luogo o sia un incompetente non sia sintomo di grande senso critico..

Abbiamo cenato alla Locanda in quanto ospiti a Villa Dini, (distante una passeggiata di 10 minuti, molto gradevole da fare alla sera) e reduci da un viaggio impegnativo con una bimba piccola al seguito e con una discreta fame a causa dello stesso viaggio. Il locale è molto bello, così come il resto della tenuta, evidentemente ben tenuto e ben ristrutturato. Nonostante la giornata calda di sera si gode un clima meraviglioso vista la posizione. Il servizio è stato molto cortese, anche se personalmente trovo che il continuo chiedere se andasse tutto bene (11 volte contate in un'ora totale di cena) scaturisca quasi nel disturbo, ma è un'opinione personale. Inoltre ci è parso un servizio molto affrettato, con i primi usciti dopo non aver ancora posato la forchetta dell'antipasto.

Il tagliere come antipasto è stato molto buono, perfetto da dividere in due persone. Gli gnocchi ci hanno delusi, in quanto sono risultati un po' sabbiosi e la salsina di pecorino era un po' sciapa. La crema pasticcera della crostata ordinata come dessert era un po' pesante. Il vino al calice era buono, ben consigliato dal personale. Conto totale 66€, nella media.

La critica che mi sento di muovere è soprattutto relativa al servizio molto affrettato che personalmente, quando viene gestito in questo modo, mi fa sentire come se il ristoratore volesse liberare il tavolo il prima possibile, e il primo di gnocchi, i quali potrebbero essere preparati al momento senza sembrare...

Great place to eat! The food is really good, Italian cuisine at its best. The staff is really helpful and helps you make choices, they also give you tips about which places to visit.

We’ve been two weeks in Italia and we’ve seen lots of restaurants. If there is one restaurant which stands out in quality of food and helpfullness of staff it is this one.

Please skip the homemade tiramisu - it is highly addictive and makes you crave for endless jars...
