Bar Centrale — Restaurant in San Lorenzo Nuovo

On our way to Rome, we made a quick pitstop at a lovely little coffee bar just off the road. It turned out to be one of those unexpected gems that makes traveling through Italy such a pleasure.

We ordered two Americanos and shared a pistachio croissant that was buttery, flaky, and just the right amount of sweet. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality and setting. The patio was absolutely adorable—small tables shaded by umbrellas, with views of the quiet street and the picturesque town surrounding us. This charming town was the perfect backdrop for a mid-morning break. The service was warm and friendly, with a relaxed atmosphere that made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Inside, they boast an impressive selection of pastries, desserts, sandwiches, and even gelato—something for every kind of craving!

I had taken a wrong turn on the Francigena, and was in an exhausted need of a good lunch. Bar Central was well placed and I took a seat in the enclosed patio area. I ordered a favorite "capriccio" pizza and a beer. Wow, it was probably the best version that I've had. Mushrooms, olives, artichokes, and an interesting variation. The egg on top was given sunny side up. A surprise, and I was able to break the yoke and smear like breakfast back home in the States. A very nice meal and rest. And a bargain! 8 euros for an excellent...

Ein echter Geheimtipp in San Lorenzo Nuovo! Auf dem Weg zum Lago di Bolsena sind wir zufällig an dieser kleinen Bar in San Lorenzo Nuovo vorbeigekommen – und was für ein Glück! Die Eisvitrine hat uns sofort angelacht, also haben wir uns spontan ein Eis gegönnt. Und was soll ich sagen? Die Waffeln waren super knusprig, das Eis cremig und richtig lecker – einfach himmlisch! Besonders die Sorten Schokolade, Karamell und Pistazie waren ein Traum.

Es war so gut, dass wir gleich zweimal dort waren! Die Bar selbst sah sehr einladend und gepflegt aus, mit liebevollen Details. Für uns definitiv ein kleiner Geheimtipp, wenn man in der Nähe ist oder auf dem Weg zum See....
