Ristorante Pizzeria "Il Vulcano" — Restaurant in San Vito dei Normanni

We ate there around a week ago.Sat down to a large TV on wall playing loud music from a radio station,not in keeping with the building and its high ceilings.No spirits just beer and wine.Ordered fillet steak was told can't have it so looked at menus again then waiter came over and said we could.Felt rushed by the staff who were not the happiest in the world.Probably because two large tables of 20-30 people turned up for their bookings so were trying to rush us through.Steaks came and was the thinnest fillet I have ever seen.My wife's was fine mine was very fatty.The mixed salad was a large bowl of lettuce with a few bits of tomato in it,hardly a mixed salad.When asked if the meal was ok when we had finished I explained about my steak,the waiter just shrugged his shoulders and walked off.Wife not wanting a scene we just paid up and left.Have given a star as wife's steak good and the building itself...

Il vulcano is a busy place. We googled a pizzeria for some easy lunch, drove by and didn't notice. Parked the car and thought there might be a plastic table and a couple of chairs inside. When we came in, we were quite surprised. The room was enormous and filled with people. It apparently is a place where the locals enjoy to eat, and that means it's good. We tried ordering some pizza, but it was just for the evening menu. Then we just had some salads and fries. The quality was good and the prices fair. The staff was really busy, but nice. Non siamo del posto e ci siamo capitati per caso. Ci ha accolti lo chef Alessandro e ci ha fatti accomodare nel cortile esterno. Il posto è spartano ed informale. La prima cosa positiva che ci ha colpiti è stato il tovagliame di stoffa (e non in TNT) che profumava di panni stesi al sole. La nostra intenzione era quella di mangiare una pizza, ma ben presto Alessandro ci ha raggiunti con un carrello pieno di pesce e carne crudi, dall'aspetto allettante e ci ha proposto varie opportunità. Storditi, ci siamo affidati a lui, che ci ha promesso di deliziarci con qualche antipasto. Abbiamo iniziato con delle seppioline crude, tagliate a listarelle, condite da noi con limone ed olio. Una pizza marinara, eccellente nella sua semplicità. Delle mini polpettine di carne fritte. Degli scampi crudi, serviti su fetta di capocollo e conditi con lime e rosmarino. Le burratine, su un letto di salsina al pomodoro, con gamberetto e crostino di pane. Un altro piatto spettacolare presentava una grande mozzarella di bufala, su letto di rucola, cosparsa di crema di basilico e pinoli, ad avvolgeva un carpaccio di carne sormontato da crema al parmigiano e scaglie di tartufo. Per finire, una mega pepata di cozze con pomodorini e, a sostituzione dei classici crostini, un'intera pagnotta di pane. Da bere, acqua, una bottiglia di rosato della cantina Incantalupi, ed un rosato Five Roses Anniversario della cantina Leone de Castris. Sorbetto e caffè. Ci ha serviti una cameriera gentile, simpatica, preparata, disponibile e veloce. Abbiamo mangiato benissimo. I prodotti erano freschi e di qualità. Le portate abbondanti. Il servizio impeccabile. E, per finire, il conto.... Ci ha lasciati senza parole: 140€ in quattro!!!!! Io un'esperienza simile non l'ho mai vissuta, e la auguro...
