Disappointing to be honest.
Views of the Gulf of Naples were beautiful and ambience was great but I think that is all that this restaurant has going for it.
If you have dined at any upscale Japanese fusion restaurant before you’d also expect much more from Coku.
Food was simply average or below:
The beef with garlic sauce was fresh and cooked well but there was minimal sauce so it was pretty dry and boring The tempura prawns and calamari was generously portioned but was very bland - it didn’t even come with a lemon or lime to add a little bit of taste The black cod was not fresh, it was too fishy to be fresh but the miso flavouring was nice The lamb was good The grilled rice was good
I was also suprised to see that the garnish of choice was lettuce, loads of it as well.
Service - the waiters were really nice and personable but also forgot to order our mains and didn’t honour a good will they offered so I can’t say all is good. 1 hour into the sitting they asked if we wanted to order more food, we said we had and were waiting for it. The waiter who took our order then ran over to apologise and asked for our order again. This was a bit frustrating as the menu states the cooking time for the mains was 25 minutes so we ended up waiting 1 hour 25m for our food.
As a good will gesture we were offered prosecco or dessert on the house. We ordered the dessert which was nice but not to our taste so he said he would change it, instead we said we’d opt for the prosecco.
The bill came with a €20 reduction for the dessert but included 4 prosecco’s. The prosecco’s were a good will gesture so didn’t expect to see them, let alone 4. As we drank the 2 prosecco’s and don’t want to sit there and ask why a good will was nothonoured, we just asked for the other 2 to be removed and paid.
I wasn’t happy and wouldn’t dine here again, although I’d recommend it for drinks.
Something to be aware of - I had a reservation for 7.30pm but was called to be told that the reservation would not be honoured as they did not update the availability on opentable. I ended up having to get a...
Read moreI ordered an orange juice without ice as I did not want it cold being sick. They brought me a very cold orange juice. I called the waitress and kindly told her again that I didnt want cold juice and asked again if I could have it at room temperature. This time she came back telling me that they couldnt bring me a room temperature juice and if I wanted something else instead. Then I ordered for something else. Then the bill came, we paid it, and we asked the waiter if we could please have the bill (he just held it when he brought the card machine and we didnt ask to see it out of politeness). After we paid he took it back but we realised that we paid a little more than we expected. When he brought us back the bill we say that they had also charged us for the juice. We complained as bringing the cold juice was their mistake at first place and then ofcourse they had taken it back. The waiter insisted that they had to charge it!!!! He did not even apologise for that or asked to give us a refund. At the end we openly asked for a refund and he told us they couldnt give us our money back!!!! He offered to give us something else which we didnt want as our taxi was already waiting outside (plus we didnt want something else!). He brought us two shots but nothing could make up for the bad experience we had and the subsequent attitude of the waiter insisting they were right! Would not recommend!!!! What they did was wrong...
Read moreThis is not the kind of review I'd prefer to post, but I didn't like this place at all. The landscape, location, decoration and views are amazing. But the food (TO MY TASTE) was not good. I repeat, TO MY TASTE. Due to the kind of menu ( I really couldn't find things that were appealing to me, but we wanted to have dinner on that incredible terrace) , we took chicken teriyaki as a starter and then 2 different dishes of pasta as main course. My pasta was "too plain", it seemed like a children's menu pasta with cherry tomatoes and cheese. A bit tasteless. So many ways it could have been improved to boost the flavours 🤷🏻♂️ The other was a kind of big raviolis filled in with shrimps, bathed in a green pesto sauce with pine nuts. I couldn't find the shrimps taste, just something like fish soup taste. The wine was good, but a bit pricey (normal in this kind of place), so I have no complaints with the wine. The service was extremely slow, nearly 40 minutes for the pasta to come 😲 I would maybe recommend it for cocktails, as the atmosphere (very classy) and the surroundings...
