FANTASTIC! We stayed at a small villa down the street from il Rifugio so were hoping the restaurant would be good. Absolutely the BEST FOOD we ate over the two weeks we were in Europe and we had some excellent cuisines from England, France, Germany to Switzerland. My 13 year old son, a little chef in the making, was thrilled to be able to order spaghetti and meatballs. Yes, meatballs in Europe, normally it is only Bolognese. Except for a place in LA, Loconda Portofino's (chef is from Florence), the meatballs were hands down the best we've every had around the world, and certainly best in all of southern Italy. Flavor and softness were just insane. Great inside and outside milieu. My wife was raving about the vibe, decoration, and music (jazz). The chef/owner spent some time in the US and speaks excellent English. Yes, there is not a view of the ocean, but we made the mistake of eating at La Rosa down the street the night before because of the view and La Rosa was terrible. Horrible food (smothered in cups of cheap sauce), wait staff just grumbled at us and it wasn't cheap. We LOVED Rifugio and highly recommend. Best restaurant we went to in Sorrento, even if we loved the grilled Octopus at Molo '52 (also good restaurant in Sorrento proper). On a beautiful warm summer evening there's no place else we'd rather eat! Looking forward to returning. Thank you...
Read moreHighly recommend!! I was on a trip just a couple weeks ago with about 20 people and we all had dinner here and agreed it was one of the best meals of the trip. The brother and sister co owners were running the restaurant completely on their own and you would never know. The sister who was waiting on us was extremely prompt, attentive and kind. The brother is the chef and had food coming out of the kitchen quickly and every dish was perfect. I got the Genovese and it was 10/10. Some people in our party even ordered second entrees because the food was so good. The restaurant itself was quiet but beautiful. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in this area, and even if you’re not staying in the area it’s...
Read moreThis was the best accidental find! We were driving back to Sorrento from Amalfi and decided to stop here for a drink. The drinks were great and the snacks provided were all homemade. Everything was so delicious that we decided to come back for dinner that night. We were talking with Maria and she said they make everything from scratch like their pastas and breads. Truly farm to table. The chef even came out and cut some rosemary for our dish right from the flower bed beside our table. The restaurant had a refined yet homey feel and was playing some great jazz music, 10/10 for atmosphere. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! It’s worth the 15 minute drive out of...
