My friends and I had the most amazing culinary and wine experience at Guido da Costigliole.
Right as we entered the restaurant we were already in awe by the surroundings and the insane wine collection they had in their ancient cellars.
We had the white truffle 3 course menu with wine pairing. The dishes were truly amazing, traditional in flavors, from the tartar to the tagliolini egg pasta (which they call Tajarin in Piedmont) and we were so very full in the end.
The menu looked deceivingly light but we were so satisfied, and glad we didn’t order anymore on the a la carte menu (which looked delicious too by the way).
The white truffle given to us was super generous. It was like shaved mountains of white gold. We were very happy.
Camilla was an amazing hostess, and Andrea was the most excellent sommelier. We had such a wonderful night and was so glad this was our first dinner out of many more too go in Alba this week. Such a great start of our...
Read moreThis restaurant is, supposedly, a Michelin star restaurant. My dining experience was anything but that. The food was by no means Michelin star quality but, in fairness, not bad. However, the service was atrocious. The maître d was very aggressive and extremely rude. Later, the owner of the restaurant, rather than trying to improve the situation, took sides and was argumentative and openly hostile to our two tables. Their attitudes changed the minute we made a simple request at the beginning of the evening to make the table configuration smaller so that we could speak more easily with one another. Crazy that such a simple request would elicit a strong negative response. The staff was inattentive, inappropriate and disrespectful. There are plenty of excellent options in the area, best save your money and...
Read moreVery disappointing overall. It is so overhyped and totally undeserving of a Michelin star. Service was mediocre but it was the food which was a bigger let down. They tried hard to incorporate local rustic dishes and could neither keep the original integrity nor elevate the experience. We tried different tasting menus and not one was praise worthy. Smoked eel was unpalatable to say the least and the other fish course consisted of the driest filet of fish I've ever had. All five of us left our main courses almost untouched but the staff couldn't care less, forget offering a substitute, they were just busy rushing us through the meal. Thankfully the ice cream was delicious and we filled up on that. I would not recommend it, even the bistro food at the hotel was better than the...
