We enjoyed a great week staying at the Saccardi spa hotel. The whole staff are definitely one of the hotel's greatest assets. |The hotel is next to a duel carriageway, (but to be honest that did not disturb us at all) and on the other side of this was the airport, literally a 10 minute drive (again we were not disturbed by airport noise). We had booked this hotel through Jet2 City breaks and although Jet2 didn't supply transfers, the hotel did their own pick up and drop off during daytime hours. |As stated in other reviews, the hotel is not much to look at from the outside, but inside it is open, airy and the rooms are spotlessly clean, if a little dated in their decor. There was air conditioning in room and a fridge with complementary water. For us Brits, I must admit I did miss the usual complementary kettle, coffee and tea in the room, so if you like a cuppa that you don't have to buy, take your own travel kettle! The only other point I would make is that there was only one available socket in the room, with technology what it is these days, rooms could benefit from at least an extra one, or the availability of multi adapters.|As per other reviews, we were able to make use of the shuttle bus service provided free of charge into Verona City or Train Station, however as already mentioned these are available at certain times of the day (9am, 12, 4pm into Verona and 12.20, 16.20, 18.20 and 19.20 back) and can only accommodate 8 passengers at a time, so it is imperative that guests plan ahead and book as soon as possible at reception, as they get filled quickly. I will add that when we were there, extra journeys in and back to Verona were added on some days, I guess when demand was high and staff were available. (we wouldn't have minded paying a nominal fee for this service, perhaps this could be a way of allowing them to be more frequent)? The cost of a taxi into Verona was 25euros each way.|Breakfast was lovely with a choice of cereals, fruit, yogurt, continental ham and cheese selection, bacon and scrambled eggs, boiled eggs and pastries each day. The waiting staff are excellent, pleasant and accommodating and they make the best coffee!|Dinner menu is a la carte and the choice is of good local dishes, with wine selections on offer being vast. Staff have great knowledge of local produce and wines. It would perhaps have been nice if there was an alternative evening meal available, perhaps the pool menu could be extended to include the evening service, as a la carte did get a little expensive over 7 nights. |We used the spa on several occasions and it was never too busy. Again this was kept spotlessly clean. We even ventured into the outdoor pool on a hot sunny day, much I think to the amusement of staff, as they said the pool was open for guests, but it was cold! (They've obviously never swum in the Atlantic it summer)!! |All said, we really enjoyed our stay here, it is a good base for trips to many other places and train travel is cheaper than in Britain! We ventured to Milan, Venice, Lake Garda as well as several trips into Verona. We enjoyed meeting the staff who we found to be professional and yet friendly, always ready to help with queries or share knowledge and experiences of their region. They are a...
Read moreJust returned from a lovely 4 night stay at Hotel Saccardi and was very pleasantly surprised. ||Firstly, the staff - wow, you cannot fault their work ethic, attentiveness, friendliness and willingness to help you with anything they can (& this is everyone, receptionists/waiters/cleaners/shuttle drivers) - they put a lot of other hotel staff to shame! They really are a credit to the hotel.||The hotel itself is not in a scenic location in my opinion with works currently going on just behind the pool area, HOWEVER, its location is perfect for a quick transport journey to/from the airport, city centre and train station making it ideal to explore.||The hotel runs a free shuttle service to and from the airport, town and station which is a great touch, however they are at certain times (latest one back to the hotel is fairly early). Around these times, the hotel is super helpful in arranging you a taxi and giving advice on your best/cost effective way to explore where you want to.||We stayed in a double room which was fairly basic but spotless - the cleaners really do a thorough job. Beds are comfy enough, nice hot powerful shower, mini fridge in room to use however one downside was no tea/coffee making facilities which we missed - that being said, i do know some other rooms have this so I have no doubt if we had asked, they would’ve sorted for us.||The breakfast buffet is nice, plenty of choice sweet & savoury but we did notice it doesn’t change each morning (well for the 4 mornings we dined anyway!). But it wasn’t an issue to be honest. We also dined in the restaurant one evening - the waiter/chef were extremely accommodating to my nut allergy and also gave advice for when dining out & about in Italy.||The pool area is nice with plenty of beds. Also a nice outdoor seating area for breakfast/dinner/ drinks. The gym is open 24:7 but fairly basic (has what you’d need though!). The bar does shut fairly early every evening which would’ve been nice to have the option to have a tea/coffee/drinks of an evening before going to the room but again, the staff did continue to serve is post closing time one evening which they really didn’t have to do but was very much appreciated! ||Overall, a very nice stay, great value for money, would definitely recommend and would...
Read moreWe found this to be an excellent hotel that was the ideal base for our trip to Verona. The transfer time from the airport was around ten minutes and the time to get into Verona was also about ten minutes. The hotel run shuttle buses for both the airport and Verona and can do drop off’s at the train station on the way into Verona.||Because of it’s location between the airport and the city of Verona, the hotel is not in the most picturesque of places, so if the peace of rolling Italian countryside or mountains is what you are after, this is not the place for you. Neither is it if you don’t want the sound of aircraft or traffic, there is not a lot, but there is some.||HOWEVER, if you enjoy|🍕delicious food|👋🏼 friendly and courteous staff|🏊🏻♀️ a lovely pool with towels provided|🍹drinks served by the pool|🫒 a quiet bar/cafe|🛋️ reception area with comfy sofas and chairs|🫧 a clean, comfy room and bathroom with clean bath towels|and|🪭 air conditioning |then this IS the place for you.||With our special thanks to |☀️ all of the reception staff, especially for keeping the luggage of we two crazy English ladies safe on our first and last days AND for providing us with cushions for the opera|🚌 the shuttle bus drivers|🥗 Hisham, Claudio and their colleague who served us on the first and last nights of our trip and all the breakfasts in between |🧊 Marcella who served us several rounds of “dua aqua” for “stanza uno, due, Otto” (big hugs 🤗)|🏖️ Danielle who worked hard to keep the pool area in tip top order|👩🏻 maid service for the lovely clean towels and beautifully made beds|All of these people worked hard, kept a calm and pleasant atmosphere throughout the hotel and most of all made us want to return. ||Verona itself is a beautiful city. If you are only there for a short time it is worth doing an opera at the Arena di Verona, a night time tour of the city and a self guided tour of the four main churches. There is lots more besides and so much history. I wish our stay had been longer. ||Grazie Mille a...
