I wish I could review the quality of the food. Sharing feedback on lack of service and kindness. Called on Saturday evening and a tentative (owner asked me to call again the following day 15/20 min prior to leaving the house just to make sure) phone reservation for 3 people for Sunday lunch. 1:00/1:15pm it is. Called Sunday 1:00pm to confirm and been asked to be there 1:30pm. Arrived 1:35pm asked to wait just few minutes. By 1:50pm I checked the status with the owner and been told “we can set up a table but it’s small”. Table assigned was in a corner of the bar, not even the main restaurant side of the property. Very sad experience. Around 2:00pm decided to leave and frankly appalled by the fact that the owner never even said “I’m sorry we overbooked”. I wish customer service mentality in the region where I was born (Friuli) developed towards standards of kindness and courtesy but it’s still rare. Restaurants are about service, experience, food. Read moreThis is a perfect place to enjoy Italian lifestyle for lunch or dinner. Halfway between Tricesimo and Tarcento, this old and beautifully renovated stone building offers great food combined with impressive hospitality.
The weather was not suitable for an outside session (the garden is nice) so we were seated inside. The menu (like the website) is multi-lingual, they are prepared for foreign visitors. On the menu, we found local specialities and, of course the cured meat platters. We took such a platter with varities of meats and cheese. It was a great experience. And plenty. You actually do not need more.
The staff was competent and nice. The menu and the daily extras were explained. The prices are more than reasonable for the offering.

The ancient farmhouse built from rough rocks with the roses climbing the house and the old well is picture-book like - sitting on the terrace on a sunny day (they provide shade) feels like sitting in paradise. The food is presented simply (only minimal decoration) but features exquisite country style dishes you cannot get often (e.g. the calf liver in mustard sauce is excellent, and the filled pasta was covered in a lovely smoked cheese) and most importantly, tastes yummy. The service team is stretched (probably the usual challenge to find staff) but friendly, and while you need a bit of patience for ordering, the kitchen delivers quickly. And the value of money...
