Ristorante Usignolo — Restaurant in Trarego Viggiona

This is the best kept secret in the area. We rented a nice lakeview summer house some 1,5km from this restaurant located around 4 km uphill away from the main road that goes along the Lago Maggiore and we decided to try give it a try given the easy access and the beautiful view. We stopped by to check the menu and a typical Italian nonna (the owner) asked us if we wanted to dine there and when, we responded that the same evening. She highly recommend that we made a reservation...to this answer we though she was bluffing and simply wanted to secure these customers. When we came that night the whole place was full packed, we couldn't believe that a restaurant some 4 km away from the main lake road could attract so many customers. But the reason was crystal clear to us after we tried their menu. The variety, the quality and the love with which every dish is prepared made us to come back every one of the five days we were in that rented summer house...We simply didn't dare to venture and try another restaurant and be sorry that couldn't match the quality of the whole menu of Usignolo Restaurant!...

My partner and I called to ask if we could reserve a table and found out they were booked but we could get take out / show up and see if a table was free. Showed up at the time they suggested. They said they were full. Completely understandable. So we ordered take out. While we were waiting, two white women showed up - also didn’t have a reservation. The server hesitated a bit, looked at us, and then offered them a table. We didn’t create a scene, paid for the food, and left. We are European, but just with Asian heritage so we are not white. I have never felt more disgusted. The food was not that good, we have definitely eaten better in this country (and neighborhood). Touristic location, off season, I’m surprised they treat people like this. I have worked in this industry and have great sympathy for gastronomy businesses but lost all of it today for this restaurant. I wouldn’t...

Leider Pech gehabt!!! Wir waren auf Empfehlung im Restaurant Usignolo und hatten auf Abends für fünf Erwachsene und 3 Kinder (zwei Kinder davon benötigen noch einen Kinderstuhl) einen Tisch bestellt. Das Restaurant liegt wunderschön gelegen oberhalb von Cannero Riviera in Trarego Viggiona mit Blick über den Largo Maggiore. Wir wurden sehr nett Empfangen obwohl das Restaurant schon sehr gut gefüllt war, leider war von den zwei vorbestellten Kinderstühlen nur einer zur Verfügung. Schade aber noch nicht so schlimm. Die Bestellung wurde zügig aufgenommen bestellt wurden: Carpaccio di manzo con grana e carciofi, Antipasto misto “dall’Acqua alla Terra”, Insalata di Polpo e Seppie con pomodorini e olive Taggiasche und Tomino alla griglia con Moccetta Ossolana e rucola als Vorspeise. Als Hauptgang: Coniglio nostrano alle Verdure, Entenbrust in Orangensauce, Gnocchi mit Kräuter und Burrata, Farfalle mit Lachsforelle und Felchenfilets gebacken. Für die Kinder gab es Pommes gleichzeitig mit der Vorspeise. Nach 15 Minuten kam die Vorspeise, alles exzellent zubereitet, vor allem die Antipasti Misto war fantastisch. Auch die Pommes der Kinder, welche kross frittierte Kartoffelscheiben waren, waren super. Nach dieser erstklassigen Vorspeise war die Vorfreude auf die Hauptspeise riesengroß. Nach 60 Minuten Warten auf die Hauptspeise reduzierte sich jedoch so allmählich die Freude. Nach 1h 15 Minuten kam dann der Hauptgang. Leider waren alle Gerichte nur lauwarm, die Pasta waren sogar schon wieder angetrocknet (so als wäre das Essen eine halbe Stunde warmgehalten worden) das Beilagengemüse (Brokkoli, Karotten, Erbsen) war auf manchen Tellern sogar nicht mal mehr lauwarm. Geschmacklich war alles gut aber zum Vergleich zur Vorspeise eine Enttäuschung. Aufgrund der lagen Wartezeit war keine Zeit mehr für ein Dessert. Wir werden dem Usignolo auf jeden Fall das nächste Mal noch Mal eine Chance geben, vorerst sind leider nicht mehr wie drei...
