La Tavernetta Sull'Aia — Restaurant in Trecastelli

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting our pre-wedding dinner this summer at the Tavernetta, as well as eating here most nights, during our one-week celebration at the adjacent Castle of Monterado.

Being of Italian descent, naturally I have been raised with good food and have high standards when it comes to dining out. This is what you will find at this venue – delicious, good quality, authentic, seasonal dishes at very reasonable prices. Alongside several regional delicacies.

Jess is a wonderful host and Chiara a skilled chef. Indeed, all the staff at this venue are very attentive and welcoming.

The venue made a bespoke venue for our pre-wedding party and made a cake on our requirements. They really couldn’t have been any more accommodating!

We had dinner here on a Saturday night (June 14 2025), while staying at Castello di Monterado. The place is located at not even 100 meters by foot. It was nice to sit outside (be aware of mosquitoes-better to wear trousers). The food was excellent and delicious; best tartare and best zucchini we had so far in Italy! Arrivando dalla strada non ci si aspetta di trovare un dehors così ampio e ben curato...proprio un'aia, grande con piante e giardino. Si intuisce subito a colpo d'occhio una gentile accoglienza. Proprietari e staff giovani e molto professionali, tutti sorridenti e molto bravi ti mettono già di buon umore! Nel menù trovi tante delizie con piatti e abbinamenti particolari che ti offrono l'opportunità di un pasto completo oppure di uno spuntino magari da consumare sui comodi divanetti allestiti qua e là sull'aia. La cucina è eccezionale a base di prodotti tipici, presidi Slow Food e il fritto di carne e verdure che abbiamo preso abbondantissimo ma soprattutto fragrante e leggero, come capita di rado. Anche il vino della casa ci è piaciuto, senza necessariamente dover prendere una bottiglia... Merita allontanarsi qualche chilometro dalla riviera per fare una capatina qui, conoscere questi ragazzi e ragazze con tanto entusiasmo e soprattutto molto capaci!
