An Unexpected Detour Turned Into a Magical Experience
When our car broke down in the middle of nowhere in Umbria in the Fall of 2024, we thought our evening was doomed. But as luck would have it, our reservation at La Cucina di San Pietro a Pettine was still on the horizon. We called ahead to explain our delay, and to our surprise, the restaurant went above and beyond, sending not one, but two cars to rescue us! This gesture alone set the tone for what would turn into an unforgettable evening.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed with warmth and charm, instantly swept up in the magical atmosphere of the restaurant. Nestled in the rolling hills of Umbria, the restaurant exudes rustic elegance, with its beautiful stone walls, soft lighting, and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. It was like stepping into a fairytale, and the calming setting immediately lifted our spirits.
The real magic, however, came from the food. Each dish was a celebration of local ingredients and traditional Umbrian flavors, prepared with skill and passion. We started with a rich antipasto platter of cured meats, cheeses, and homemade breads that left us craving more. The main courses were equally impressive—tender pasta, perfectly roasted meats, and fresh, vibrant vegetables that tasted like they’d been picked just moments before.
By the time we reached dessert, we were completely enchanted—not just by the food, but by the whole experience. The service was impeccable, the ambiance was warm and inviting, and every bite was a reminder of why Umbria is such a special place.

Desde hace más de 15 años paso parte de las Navidades en Italia, adoro este país y adoro su gastronomía. Descubrir todo lo que cada región te ofrece es realmente conocer cada uno de los pequeños pueblos y tradiciones que hacen de Italia uno de los mejores destinos gastronómicos que conozco. Este año ha sido en Umbria donde he disfrutado de un restaurante en mitad del campo con vistas a una pequeña iglesia del 1200 y con un menú dedicado a la trufa blanca y negra. El restaurante es una mezcla entre una cálida modernidad y una decoración basada en mesas de madera con más de 100 años y ramos de rosas en pleno esplendor. Aunque bueno, vayamos al grano… decidimos probar el menú que comenzaba con unas entradas de pan brioche casero con una mantequilla de trufa, muy bueno. Seguimos con un huevo crujiente con puré de patatas y parmesano 24 meses con trufa blanca.
