All i can say is WOW!
WOW, what a dissapointment. How the restaurant is in on the #1 spot of all restaurants in Trieste is a mystery for me.
We went there for lunch and expected a lot. The place didnt make a first great impression on Tripadvisor photos as far as the ambient and food goes but when i saw the reviews i was thinking it must be one of those hidden gems, places that locals visit and is far from a tourist trap. I am unsure if this is the case now. I should of known judging by all the 5 stars though, i usually dont fall for that.
Right away i noticed the place is pretty average in terms of interior/cleaniness but never judge a book by it covers. I was hoping the menu and the food would make up for it. But it didnt.
Some of the food tasted like it was frozen pre-prepared basic convenience store grade, most of the food was way too salty and tasted just average. I cant say the food was bad as we ate it all but certainly it does not deserve to be advertised as the best in Trieste. I would of eaten the same quality food probably in most average restaurants around the town, or better. The service was OK but again just OK, nothing much more to say. The ambient i have already mentioned and did not justify the way up hill. It seemed like just a golf club with a restaurant to have a beer after playing golf and have some quick small bites.
I have to say the price was OK and i dont feel ripped off by the pricing, but i do feel i have been betrayed by the reviews and i feel like they are paid reviews or from people who wanted to help the restaurant make some turnover. If all those reviewers honestly believe this is the best restaurant in Trieste, then Trieste has a BIG culinary problem.
Or maybe i just wasnt at the...
