We stopped here for lunch without a reservation. Although the restaurant was quite busy, the friendly staff welcomed us and seated us at a nice table on the terrace. The restaurant is very charming and has a typical Italian atmosphere. Our dog was also not an issue; they welcomed her and immediately brought a bowl of water. The staff was extremely helpful, pleasant, and friendly, which made dining here a delightful experience in terms of service. We took their recommendation for wine, and it was truly excellent.
As for the food, the restaurant specializes in dishes made from freshwater lake fish. The quality of the food was somewhat inconsistent. The bruschetta mix was quite standard, nothing extraordinary. The carp porchetta seemed like an interesting choice since carp is a common fish in our landlocked country, so I was curious to see how the Italians would handle it. Unfortunately, I found it quite bland and had to use a lot of lemon and oil to add some flavor. I understand that seasoning carp well can be challenging. I really do enjoy this place. A table for four just a few meters away from the waters edge. The baby moorhens came to see what we had ordered. Two large mixed antipasti satisfied both meat eaters and vegetarians. My friend had his Unbrian sausage spatchcocked. He couldn't finish them they were so large. Other dishes included Persico, and a pasta dish. The girls had a chocolate dessert. Coffee for all and two litres of red house wine. Not a tourist in sight and yet there was hardly a spare seat. Mother’s Day May 14th, 2023. We were welcome with open arms. The food was fantastic. We started with perch in lemon and sage, fried perch and the baked in oven carp. The variety of the local fish was pleasing to our palettes and worth every bite. The fresh water fish was fresh and cooked with flavor. The staff was accommodating and friendly.
