Osteria Lo Spietato — Restaurant in Unione dei comuni della Versilia

I loved this place. I started to come here a long, long time ago, when it was a small room just serving great pizza. I was here few days ago. I won’t come back, probably ever. Wait staff was nice. Attentive. Place it’s clean and chill. Every restaurant has ups and downs or bad nights. But what I experienced has nothing to do with a “bad night” in the kitchen. My bad experience has to do with the management business choices I think. I’ll cut to the chase: Vino Sfuso didn’t taste like vino. “Vino Sfuso” or “Vino della Casa” it’s something typical of any Italian trattoria or small town restaurant. It’s relatively cheap but good enough. I tried “frizzante” and “fermo”. I don’t want to say what it tasted like but you get it. Skip it. Vassoio Antipasto. One slice of everything flattened on the plate. Looked like a cheap deli “Boars Head” selection. An antipasto of salumi and cheese it’s a Tuscan classic. This is one is not a classic. Stay away from it. Pizzas looked great. I was really hopeful when they arrived. No taste. I don’t know how they did it. No smell, no flavor. Side of Fries: oughhh…. I’ll stop here. They can fix it if they want. I hope they do. But they are busy, they probably won’t....

Ottima esperienza! Con i miei genitori quest'anno ci siamo concessi una vacanza nei dintorni di Camaiore, una sera avevamo il piacere di degustare qualche prodotto tipico toscano. Cercando su internet ho trovato questa bellissima osteria e devo dire che l'esperienza è stata molto più che ottima!! L'ambiente interno è molto caratteristico, con mattoni a vista e oggetti antichi e particolari (addirittura le tovagliette sono molto ben pensate: infatti si può leggere sopra la storia del luogo e anche questo dà un tocco in più alla serata), il personale è molto gentile e qualificato: hanno subito capito che eravamo turisti e ci hanno gentilmente servito le portate in vassoi di modo che potessimo assaggiare tutti un po' di tutto. Purtroppo arrivati al secondo eravamo già stra pieni e non siamo riusciti ad assaggiare la carne e il pesce proposti, che sembravano anch'essi ottimi! Sicuramente dovessi capitare di nuovo da quelle parti non andrei a mangiare da altre parti se non lì! Cibo davvero buonissimo e fatto in casa!! E cosa dire... ad un prezzo davvero modico! Consiglio a chi come me ama la cucina tipica e vuole godersi una serata degustando prodotti ottimi sorseggiando del buon vino, in un ambiente davvero suggestivo e familiare. Ah dimenticavo noi siamo arrivati all'ultimo, senza prenotazione in una serata di fine settimana: nonostante il gran numero di tavoli occupati ci hanno accolti con molta gentilezza facendoci scegliere addirittura il tavolo tra i pochi rimasti e le portate sono arrivate senza alcuna attesa! Very good local food. Be prepared for abundance and the not-so-subtle character of Versilian Cuisine. Have the plateau with panzerotti and a good steak: simple yet delicious plates, all made with protein and produce from local farmers. It’s a cramped space, the way restaurants were made in the ‘80s, so, be prepared for some noise.
