Il Circolo di Tornavento — Restaurant in Unione dei comuni di Lonate Pozzolo e Ferno

This place has a very strategic position, in the Square of this little village facing the mountains and right in front of the sunset. A potential that is definitely not used at its best. Few weeks ago we ended up in this place and, as most people, just after sunset we wanted to drink something and potentially have some food. We queued, and got seated inside (for outside we needed to wait longer and we were not bothered). And here the problems started: no one showed up to take our order for at least 30 minutes. Most tables seated just after us were getting agitated and started to demand the service. I can keep going on with more details but in the end, we got the drinks, we got the food (just a tagliere) and we left soon after cause it was late. Most tables, after the long wait were served at the same time. I believe there has been a lack of staff organisation which is unacceptable, especially during the peak hours for this typology of bars/restaurants. I believe few staff members were having a break (I saw them seating outside in one of the tables) and, again, during the sunset time, it is strongly unacceptable making people wait over 30 minutes just to order.... Definitely not a bad experience and nobody apologised to us for the wait or attempted to improve...

Frequento il Circolo di Tornavento da molti anni perché si trova sulla piazzetta di Tornavento, un piccolo accrocco di case della frazione di Lonate Pozzolo che nel corso degli anni è diventata un punto di ritrovo per i frequentatori del parco del Ticino e delle sponde ciclabili e pedonali del fiume e del canale Villoresi. La piazzetta della chiesa è diventata negli anni una piacevole terrazza panoramica che si apre sul decorso del Ticino e offre una veduta spettacolare del Monte Rosa e delle Alpi piemontesi nelle belle giornate di sole. Il Circolo offre ristoro ai "viandanti" e ai ciclo turisti in modo semplice e piacevole sui tavoli all'aperto o nelle 2 salette interne ristrutturate di recente. Il bancone all'interno ricorda un pub anche per le spillatrici e per il piano con sgabelli che consentono le consumazioni più veloci. Il menù comprende panini e piadine da farcire in svariati modi e da personalizzare, insalatone, taglieri di salumi e formaggi e qualche piatto caldo come l'hamburgher con chianina, lo stinco alla birra con patate e il rosti. A rotazione si possono trovare altri piatti caldi sul menù al tavolo. Discreta scelta di birre sia alla spina che in bottiglia nazionali ed estere e aperitivi classici e pestati. Gustatevi un aperitivo oppure uno spuntino veloce. Da provare il tagliere di lardo con miele oppure il salamino di cinghiale con parmigiano. Gustosissime le ribs alla birra o le mantovanelle al sugo. Se vi piace lo stinco qui è sempre molto buono così come il piatto bavarese di wurstel e crauti accompagnati da salse e dal brezel. Non è alta cucina ma il gusto non manca. La giovialita' dei ragazzi al servizio e la location vi regaleranno sicuramente una sosta piacevole e da ripetere anche in compagnia di amici. Il Circolo è molto gettonato consiglio pertanto di prenotare soprattutto nei fine settimana e nelle belle giornate per evitare file interminabili. Un plus è la possibilità di portare con voi i vostri amici a 4 zampe anche all'interno. Sono assolutamente pet frendley e troverete all'ingresso sempre una ciotola di acqua fresca...

Landed in Italy and my boyfriend and I were starving, found this restaurant and oh my god. Its amazing.

Our server, Sali, told us the kitchen was about to close but we could order no problem. Unlike a lot of severs you see nowadays who'd be bothered or annoyed by our late request, he was so sweet and helpful.

My boyfriend got a massive custom panini whilst I just had a slice of chocolate cake (which was divine) and a sex on the beach, best cocktail I've ever had.

Sali chatted to us here and there and he's such an amazing guy and server.
