Vecchia Trattoria Monte Adone — Restaurant in Unione dell'Appennino Bolognese

To be clear, we asked our hosts for a recommendation for dinner after a long day out and they recommended this restaurant, even going so far as to book us a table.

This is not somewhere you would easily stumble across. You'd find it by recommendation and thankfully internet recommendations count. This is a surprising restaurant with absolutely stunning views across the valley if you sit on the rear terrace.

The food is simple, local and really tasty. Eat as Italians do, take your time and enjoy the courses. We didn't see a menu, all the staff knew what was on offer today it was all fabulous. We had a pasta dish each to start and literally passed them around so we all tried each. Main courses were more personal but an amazing variety of meats.

Our reservation was for eight in the evening, which is early by Italian standards, late for us. By the time we'd finished, the restaurant was lively. Service was attentive but unhurried, and hospitable despite our lack of Italian. Heartily...

Really enjoyed this place - from the owner (?) who is also the menu over the cozy atmosphere to the great food, everything was perfect. The trattoria seems to be serving a good mix of locals and bikers / hikers. I settled on the green tortelloni with cheese fondue and truffles, and they were honestly a revelation. Had I not already ordered a generous portion of tomahawk as a main, I would have asked for more, it was that good. Food arrived quickly, the meat was perfectly cooked. The only flaw was maybe that the amaro was served in an ice-cold glass, but the spirit itself was not chilled. Other than that...

Ci sono andato solamente per i "pranzi di lavoro", per risparmiare un po' però, giorno dopo giorno, il menù non cambiava mai. Una volta, il cibo, mi ha anche fatto male di stomaco, così ho deciso di non andarci più e di eliminare questo ristorante dai miei preferiti. L' orario su Google Maps è sbagliato, perché il gestore apre sempre alle 10.00 e non alle 09.00. Il ristorante si trova sulla "Via degli Dei", per cui, ci sono tantissimi/e camminatori/camminatrici nazionali e straniere che, a quell'ora vorrebbero fare colazione però, al massimo possono ricevere un caffè o dei panini e bibite in bottiglia ed in lattina. Il costo del "pranzo di lavoro" è di soli €12 con l'acqua del rubinetto però, se si vuole del vino, il dolce e/o il caffè, bisogna pagarli a parte. Il caffè "Ventura" costa €2. Oggi, 26/03/2025, il Menù prevedeva 3 primi e 3 secondi, io ho scelto la pasta alla matriciana e, come secondo, salsiccia con fagioli. Toilette, vicino alla cassa e, wc con sedile. Paesaggio suggestivo. Essendo chiuso il lunedì e martedì, il pranzo di lavoro è solo nei giorni di mercoledì, giovedì e venerdì, le sere "a la carte". Sabato e domenica pranzo e cena "a la carte". Meglio prenotare telefonando al numero telefonico presente nella foto dello scontrino o scrivere un messaggio su whatsapp. La cosa che mi ha sconvolto di più nel locale, è la frequenza con la quale, il proprietario và, più volte, all'erogatore del vino, che lo faccia per spingere la clientela ad uno smodato...
