AVOID BY ANY COSTS.
The problem here is not the food, but the owner. I had dinner with my boyfriend and everything went fine, the food was good, the service from the girls was great. When it was time to pay, the card machine stopped working, they said it was because of the rain. We paid, and we were debited, but they said it didn’t work because of the connection - fine. We even offered other cards to try to pay with, but they said the problem was with the card machine and that we should pay with cash. We came from London, so we didn’t have cash with us and they said to go to the closest ATM. When I was about to leave with my boyfriend to withdraw the money, the owner, a small guy, appears saying in Italian “that just one should we go to be sure that we would pay it”. Honestly, it was beyond disrespectful, it was 22:30, of course I wouldn’t go alone.. neither my boyfriend. It’s their card machine problem, we were staying in a hotel 4 minutes away and tried to explain it.
It was ridiculous. Humiliating, I would say… and for a bill of +- 100 euros. The worst Italian service I’ve ever had. Don’t come here, don’t stress, it’s not worth it. Treating clients with such disrespect and suggesting they would leave without paying (after we already paid, with card, AND YOUR machine didn’t work) is just too much. Besides that, he was offensive but couldn’t exchange 3 words in English. Avoid,...
Read moreWe had really good Italian foods in Rome, so naturally wanted our first meal at Venezia to be Italian as well. Our hotel staff recommended Ai-Do Fogheri. The restaurant was just a short walk away from the hotel. The inside was very nicely decorated & cozy, wasn’t that busy when we went for dinner at 8:30 pm.
Unfortunately that’s all the good stuff I can say about this place. Couple of things made our visit to the restaurant not so pleasant. No.1: after we were seated and given our menu to decide, it took them almost 20-22 minutes to come and take our orders...I already mentioned earlier that they were not busy (less than 50% full) at that time. No.2: one of our knives were dirty. No.3: the menu is in Italian! I guess that’s not a complete surprise, but when we were asking questions to our waiter before placing orders he was answering almost 85% in Italian and was visibly annoyed by us (keep in mind, we are not “white people”). No.4: such a confusing menu! Was trying to order something from the “Primi Di Carne, first courses with meat” section and eventually came to know that only 2 dishes out of 5 listed there have meat in them :/
We have been in Italy already 5 days now, and had the pleasure to enjoy Italian food in at least 6-7 different restaurants. But I don’t think this restaurant is anything special, items are overpriced and the foods don’t taste that...
Read moreThe octopus was very good so I got the steak and a bottle of Chianti Classico Riserva. The bottle came and it was not Chianti Classico Riserva it was Chianti Riserva. I tried to tell the waitress but she assured me that it was. Chianti Classico has the black rooster on it as it is from the original region of Chianti.
The steak was overcooked and because the server did not understand me. I asked for medium rare, she thought I said “medium well”. I was not upset by this except she was rude when I asked to take the steak back. The next steak was better but the mushrooms were very salty and it was not a good cut of meat.
I talked to the owner about the wine. He said Classico is not important… if it is not important why is it listed that way on the menu? I know my wine and I know what is important. He was speaking Italian though so I may have misunderstood. He was kind and took a bit off my bill (5€ for the confusion) but I still would...
