Trattoria Baccalà Divino — Restaurant in Venice

We have just arrived to Italy, Venice today. This was a great experience to start our adventure in Italy with this restaurant for the first dinner. We were so glad that our host in Venice we an Italian couple who are living close by and know this restaurant very well. Apparently, this restaurant is also a famous place for Italian around the country. Our experience was even better because our friends knew what to order. The staff were so polite and friendly. I think they were not able to communicate in English if you don't know Italian. We didn't try, though. We ordered Tris di mantecati con schiacciata calda, Caviale di baccala', Trippette di stoccafisdo in salsa di scalogno, Pasticcio di filetto di stoccafisso, Gnocchetti di pastate con ragu' di stoccafisso olive e capperi and Bis di Vicentina e Veneziana con polenta. To the best of my knowledge, all these food was different taste of the same fish which was prepared with different ingredients and flavors, but totally different tastes. The taste of the fish was the only thing which was repeated in all the dishes to remind you how delicious the fish is. I highly recommend this place and this dish if you are adventurous in trying new dishes. Comparing to the quality of the food and the service that you get, the price is definitely worth it. I also recommend to make a reservation before you go as the all table...

Baccalà, the traditional Venetian dried cod and all its varieties has got one home; Baccalà Divino. A bit off the main tourist trail but worth the while. Chef Franco Favaretto is a legend in his field and if you want to try this particular dish this is by far the best place to go. From the delicious "antipasti" over the divine first courses to the fantastic seconds. All made from Baccalà. The interior is simple but stylish and classy and waiters are friendly and knowing.... Chef Franco himself is running back and forth. This is a specialized restaurant, but if you like this specialty, this is the best...
