Donna Maria — Restaurant in Vieste

We are staying not far from Donna Maria and were looking for something nice for dinner. We found just what we were looking for.

The bread seems to be a house made loaf which is a pleasant change from some who just drop some rando bread in a basket on the table. This bread is good quality.

We began with beef carppacio which was delicious, especially the olive paste which provided a natural salty component.

My wife had gnocchi with lamb ragu and I enjoyed the mezzi ziti with a rich beef sauce. Both just wonderful dishes. Especially with Negroamaro to pair with.

We finished with a Crema di ricotta pugliese dessert that's a regional favorite.

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Vieste. The staff truly cares about your experience and you will find yourself with amazing people that will be always having a smile ready for you. The food is absolutely amazing! We discovered the talented and young chef Libero Ratti that was the protagonist of this experience in the restaurant–everything we tasted melted in our mouths. Siamo stati qui a cena ieri sera spinti dalle foto della location. La struttura è veramente bella e suggestiva, con alberi di ulivi intorno e zona bar davanti a tre piscine rotonde. Purtroppo la ristorazione è proprio da rivedere. Ci hanno fatto accomodare sulla terrazza e il proprietario ci ha letto il menù a voce (senza nominare il prezzo, cosa scandalosa nel 2020!) in quanto non sono provvisti di codice qr. Abbiamo preso un mix di antipasti di mare che non hanno entusiasmato, soprattutto per l'accostamento delle cozze e seppie ripiene con l'uovo, e un tagliere di salumi e formaggi di media qualità. Dopodiché abbiamo preso due spaghetti con cacio e pane fritto agli agrumi in cui il formaggio non si sentiva perchè coperto dall'aroma agrumoso. Infine il tataki di tonno era troppo cotto, con sesamo che copriva il gusto e accompagnato da patatine fritte (orrore!). Confusione nel dolce in quanto un semifreddo è stato spacciato per una mousse ai frutti di bosco. Di vino abbiamo preso 2 rosè e 1 bianco di loro produzione che non ci ha entusiasmato. Al momento del conto, abbiamo dovuto fare noi il riepilogo dei piatti e bevande ordinate, in quanto il proprietario faceva confusione. Abbiamo speso in 7 (con anche caffè e amaro) ben €311 di cui gli antipasti di mare spacciati per 4 prorzioni (comprendenti due piatti di polpo al pomodoro, due piatti di calamari con carciofi, 8 cozze ripiene, 4 seppie ripiene, due piatti di caponata con una fettima di triglia impanata) a €30 l'uno !!!! Non metteteci piedi !! A Vieste in pieno centro abbiamo cenato molto meglio e pagando almeno...
