Mactra — Restaurant in Vitorchiano

Guys, look no further: this place is what you’ve been looking for! The outdoor location is perfect, simple but elegant (and Vitorchiano is just the perfect stroll for your full bellies..). The staff is attentive, funny and (important for my ignorant self) speaks English, without being pushy. And the food… Madonna, it’s not fancy and it does not need to be because it’s all what you need: They offer different concepts of traditional pizzas, for sure some of the best I ever had. The pancanella with local braised fish, though not for the faint hearted I suppose, was special. And the pollo i peppe simply BLEW my mind (while the waiter insisted I would eat it with my hands): like a good wine in the right setting it let me travel back to my childhood - yes, just like in the movies.. My limited expertise of wines wasn’t a problem since the regional selection is great, so was the dessert. It’s what you call slow food, good food that can make a night, a very worthy experience....

While the overall experience was meh, ok, the time it took for our order to be delivered was very poor. Once we were seated, it took about 10 minutes to get our table. 25 min to place our order and a whopping 90 minutes from placing the order to the meals being delivered to our table. We were seated outside, so by the time our meals arrived, it was nightfall. Consistently had to ask for water to be refilled Wait staff ignored our request for table service. We saw other patrons getting their meals before us. Servizio, terrible & slow, slow, slow. Pizza arrived tepid, so by the time it reached our table it was beginning to cool. This restaurant came highly rated, it was anything but. Price was fair for what we paid, but there is nothing here that would compel me to return. A disappointing visit to an otherwise...

Sono venuto con la mia famiglia e un cameriere con occhiali e barba tagliata corta ha avuto un comportamento disdicevole:ho un fratello di 10 anni che era indeciso su cosa ordinare e il cameriere gli si è avvicinato, pensavo per darli un qualche consiglio, invece gli ha messo fretta dicendo che tutte le altre persone hai tavoli stavano aspettando che lui ordinasse e che tanto avrebbe mangiato e se ne sarebbe subito andato a casa a dormire come se volesse invitarci ad andarcene, così mio fratello per la pressione di questo comerire ha scelto qualcosa al volo e si è messo a piangere perché preferiva vedere bene il listino. In seguito sempre questo cameriere viene al nostro tavolo a vedere se andava tutto bene mi aggira e prende la mia bottiglietta di coca cola e la versa nel calice da vino senza chiedere, cosa che a me non ha importato ma a qualcun altro avrebbe potuto da fastidio. Oltre a questo cameriere ce ne era un altro questo era educato ma come anche agli altri tavoli continuava a sbagliare a portare ordini. Finito di mangiare sono andato al bagno mi sono lavato le mani e facendo per buttare via la carta con cui mi sono anciugato ho toccato il muro che non so per quale motivo era incandescente. Il menù non ha primi e i restanti piatti sono pochissimi, al momento della prenotazione come per presa in giro ci è stato detto che i primi non c'erano perché tanto i carboidrati ce li avevano già la pizza. Un posto dove si mangia anche bene ma è quasi...
