We are so glad we found Cerisola! There are so many good restaurants in the Liguria area and we were lucky to eat some great meals during our time here, but our dinner here at Cerisola was our favorite of all.
We were warmly greeted by Debora and ushered to our seats on the terrace with a gorgeous view of the hills and the sea. Our appetizers— interesting takes on fried zucchini flowers and a prosciutto/burrita/pesto dish with unique puffy bread—were yummy and came in surprisingly large portions. We shared a pasta with a walnut sauce and both savored the baked fish of the day entree with flavorful potatoes, tomatoes, and olives— rustic yet sophisticated in its blend of flavors.
And dessert!! We shared deconstructed cannoli with three takes— a pistachio topped version, chocolate piece topped version, and one with orange peel topping which was to die for.
While this restaurant is a little bit inland and off the beaten tourist track, it’s more than worth the eight minute drive. If you are in the area, try not to miss Cerisola Ristorante. It’s new, having opened in March, but even early in the season and midweek when we went, the...
Read moreI don't fully understand the good reviews of this place. The service for sure is very friendly and attentive, but the food quality and the prices are not up to standard. I will not return. Edit 23 sept: I want to clarify that my review is not fake. I ate here with a group of people. The restaurant was extremely loud inside, and the lighting was very glary, which didn’t do much for the atmosphere.
As mentioned, the staff were very, very friendly and really tried to please — I cannot fault that at all.
However, when it comes to the food, the portions are small considering the prices, especially compared to other places we’ve visited in the area. The quality was also not to our liking — overall, the flavours were underwhelming. The bread served with the coperto was stale, simple white bread. One dish in particular, the aubergine melanzane (€16), was very disappointing: half of a small aubergine placed on a bed of wilted salad with a drizzle of red, white and green sauce that had no flavour.
Of course, no plates were returned full to the kitchen, but that was simply because the portions were small and we...
Read moreExcellent family run restaurant on the hills of Zaogli. Don’t expect there a fancy atmosphere of the sea side… instead, you’ll experience amazing homemade food and a warmly simple service. We had an excellent lingine alle vongole, fuori di zucchini, fish tartare, pasta al ragu… and some other perfectly made dishes. The decomposed cannoli are a sweet way to end the meal. Very reasonable prices for the quality. One of those addresses where you “just” feel well. We regretted not taking pictures of our dishes...
