Go to this fabulous restaurant! You won't regret or ever forget it. An employee of the nice Azul Beach Resort suggested I try the Fireman's Lobster Pit just over the resort's north property line. I'll likely be eating most of my meals there for the rest of my stay in Negril.
The chef, who looks EXACTLY like a young Snoop Dog, pulls a cage full of live lobsters from the sea and asked which one I'd like, prices start at $30. I asked for a $30 one and was then invited to sit down in the colorful spacious open-air dining area.
Fireman's is apparently something of a local hangout. Several bright, energetic articulate Jamaicans were chatting, socially distanced, about politics, culture and the impact of COVID-19 on the island. Everyone was of excellent cheer, the music blared, the breeze delighted and my Red Stripe hit the spot perfectly.
My lobster was served split, grilled with a side of callaloo, a sort of Jamaican spinach. Both were perfectly cooked, bathed in butter, delicious beyond description and unequivocally the best lobster meal I've ever eaten.
I was for time married to a wonderful Jamaican woman and did many things on the island. No experience I've ever had in Jamaica equals the pure magic of this restaurant and it's mind-blowingly great lobster lunch.
I walked back to my Azul suite on a cloud, raving to everyone I saw on the beach about the amazing meal I had just had. I said to my fellow vacationers what I say to you in a loud and deliriously happy voice: go to the Fireman's Lobster Pit, order a meal and prepare yourself for the finest dining experience of your life!...

However, I'm not sure if these two positives can balance out the negatives. First of all, the attitude of the staff: if your face doesn't convey the idea of a big tip, don't expect to feel welcomed in the restaurant. If you ask the waitress any questions, rather expect to see a clearly annoyed face answering you rudely. Also, at the end of the lunch we asked to pay in Jamaican dollars (not being US, it was our fault for not having US dollars, apparently); after another expression of irritation from the waitress, we pay the bill and we are asked if we have any smaller pieces, because the restaurant does not have enough to give us change. Since we didn't have any either, the waitress decided to keep the rest as a tip, without saying anything else or coming back to the table. Apparently we didn't even worth a greeting when we left the restaurant, and we didn't complain about anything throughout the meal... Last negative point: the price of the food is excessively high compared to the quality and quantity, but this is probably due to the fact that the restaurant is surrounded by high-level all-inclusive hotels.
It's not worth wasting about two hours to...
Read moreMy Fiancee and I had a terrible experience were robbed by an employee or an employee's acquaintance at Fireman's Lobster Pit, and management covered it up. Our phone, ID Card, and Credit Card were stolen at the restaurant and we were reassured by management that the multiple cameras on the property would indicate who was responsible. the owner of the restaurant mentioned that the only person to have access to the cameras lived in Canada (?), but was diligent in sharing their contact information. we knew the time stamp of the footage, and which camera would have revealed who the thief was, but management constantly sent us footage other than what we were asking for, completely avoiding the camera and the time stamp we were asking for. at a certain point, the management began sending us evasive messages and never came forward with what we were hoping to find. we ultimately contacted the police.
I hate that we feel obliged to send this review. there were certainly members of staff who were sympathetic, kind, and frustrated that we were robbed, and management was initially very friendly and cooperative. but a few bad eggs spoiled our...
