Tai Xing Garden Restaurant — Restaurant in undefined

It was my first time eating Chinese food in Portmore, my friends recommended this restaurant. The restaurant is a part of a larger plaza complex. It was a good experience--good Chinese cuisine. Our waiter was very friendly, the menu is hefty & heavy...the food portion sizes are fairly good (except for the wings😭), tasty-well seasoned food, not salty...I had wonton soup for the first time and I loved it, all about trying new foods so that was a plus for me. I loved the decor-- the jade green and gold is beautiful, the prices were a little on the "higher" end for different dishes, but overall a good restaurant you can definitely take friends and family for a good meal here. The bathroom was very basic though, I thought it could be as "spiffy" as the decor in restaurant but apart from that, I have no complaints; inside was clean, no unpleasant odor, running water and other essentials were available. The restaurant was empty, due to COVID. The overall customer service barely gets a passing grade. My order was their spicy tofu (aka Mabu dofu) served with rice, and a wanton soup.

Let me just say that I've given up finding an amazing Chinese restaurant that offers delicious food in the Kingston/Portmore areas.

I was VERY disappointed with the soup (didn't finish it) and almost as disappointed with the tofu dish. The rice was unappealing to me (couldn't finish it) so I only took the tofu home (will try to add flavour to it with some sweet chili bean sauce, soy sauce and prayer).

I did speak to one customer about the food there, and she did say it was good. So, different people will have different opinions on the dishes there. This was my 3rd (2 takeouts, 1 dine-in) time trying food there, and all 3 have been disappointing with taste. This is just...

The food was good. We had S&S pork ribs, Chicken Chow Mein, and Roast Pork. Some parts of the Roast Pork wasn't very tender but the flavour was still good. The waiter and the male owner were very courteous and helpful. The ambiance in the dining area is relaxing and comfortable with a small exception of an under-table bar on my side of the table which prohibits the legs from going under the table fully, but it didn't make me uncomfortable. The bathroom seems to be recently renovated and possibly wasn't cleaned properly or the wrong chemicals were used to clean it, as the tiles on the floor and wall had a white course looking film on them and the toilet seat was coarse and difficult to wipe, so too was the counter.
