cafe茶豆 — Restaurant in Abiko

Stopped in for a Cafe Latte with my fiance while we were exploring Fusa. When I went to pay my Alipay/PayPay kept declining since I don’t have a verified ID in Japan. The I didn’t have enough cash Yen on me to cover the bill and offered to go to ATM. The owner was very kind and told me that since it was our last day in Japan for this leg of the trip to it be his treat. Very humbled and impressed with his generosity, will be stopping in again on our way back through Japan in a few weeks to talk story and show proper patronage. Overall it’s a cozy little cafe and they put a lot of care into their menu and preparation and it shows. I can’t wait...

It’s a nice little cafe with variety of food options. I think they are most popular for the French toast with different topping options. I had already had breakfast when I visited the place on a rainy August morning. So I just had a cool lemon juice. Interior of the cafe is cozy and there were few locals having breakfast. My Japanese is basic so the owner very kindly helped me with using Google translate. He was very friendly. I will visit again if happen to go that way in the future and actually try some French toast...

「隠れた名店」と言う表現はよく聞くが、ここはまさにそれ。

DAY1 モーニングを食べようじゃないか。 ファミレスやチェーン店のではなく、喫茶店のモーニング。 シンプルにトーストとサラダ、卵料理がワンプレートのアレだ！ そして、近くにあるらしい喫茶店に向かった。 住宅街、裏通り、そこに茶豆は有りました。 小洒落た店のドアを開けると、外観からはわからない高い天井。　まるで魔法の空間のようだ。 そう、この店で体験する最初の魔法。

ほのかにコーヒーの香り。 気の利いた音楽。 既に名店の予感。 おすすめはフレンチトースト。 当初の目的のシンプルなトーストとは逸脱するが、生ハムとクリームチーズのフレンチトーストと、相方はエビとアボガドのフレンチトースト。 まずコーヒーが来る。 自家焙煎珈琲らしく、実にいい香り。 間髪入れずにフレンチトーストが。 何ということだ、シンプルところか、実に手の込んだワンプレートか眼の前に来ているではないか。 そして此処から先は、二度目の魔法、あっという間の時間でした。 素材を活かし、見事な、そして確かな腕前で作られたフレンチトーストは私達を無口にさせた。 気が付いたら最後の一口。 食べてしまうのが悔やまれるほど素晴らしい逸品てした。

DAY2 先日の驚きの体験が忘れられずまた来てしまった。 今度はバターとメープルシロップのフレンチトーストとハムとチーズのフレンチトースト。 少し一般的なメニューに。

先日のは凝った料理で複雑な要素を盛り込みながら実に調和の取れた味わい。 今回のはオーソドックスながら、オーソドックス故にストレートに刺さってきて夢中にさせる絶妙な料理。 驚きが隠せません。 今回もあっという間でした。
