This is both a restaurant and a retail shop for all things Unagi. The retail shop opens at 10am and the restaurant opens at 11am. Believe it or not this place gets packed for lunch, testament that locals enjoy the eatery. We were the only tourist. The decor is brand new, feels like it was built in the last year or so, well designed and spacious. Once seated the menu is simple, unagi small medium and large, and option to add the grill innards. We ordered one of each and when the food arrived we salivated greatly. The unagi is thick, with bite and the sauce along with rice is the perfect combination. The charcoal flavour is not overpowering and the innards have a nice bite and flavour to it, no fishy funk to it, like eating chicken gizzards. Suffice to say we devour our sets. Each set comes with unagi, rice, soup with unagi bits and some pickles. This restaurant has the full unagi experience, they farm their own eel, serve it in their own eatery and if you want to take the experience home, there’s precook frozen unagi you can buy after the meal. This is truly a memorable Eel experience in a town known for its Mikan. Must try if you’re driving past.

関西おいしいもの食べ歩き 【2023年1月21日】 男の手料理 うざく 和歌山県有田市ふるさと納税の返礼品の鰻 「うなぎ屋かわすい」さんの鰻を使って作ったのは うざく 〈食材〉 「うなぎ屋かわすい」さんの鰻 1尾 キュウリ 2本 生ワカメ 生姜 〈調味料〉 砂糖 小さじ 2 塩 少々 酢  大さじ 2 醤油 大さじ 1 生姜 皮を剥いて千切りにします キュウリ 2ミリ幅の斜め切り 塩を振り掛けてザックリ揉んで5分放置 生ワカメ 好みの量を折り畳んで1センチ幅にカット 5分放置したキュウリに入れてザルで洗ってから絞ってペーパータオルでしっかり水切りします 調味料に千切りにした生姜を投入して混ぜます 絞ったキュウリとワカメを調味料で和えます 鰻 「うなぎ屋かわすい」さんの鰻はクール便で冷凍されて届くので解凍しておきます 大きいので半分にカットしてオーブントースターで焼きます オーブントースターは、事前に点火して温めておいて アルミホイルを敷いて鰻を載せて上にもアルミホイルで覆いって2分 上のアルミホイルを取り除いて3分 鰻の分厚さによって時間調整が必要なので焼け具合を見ながら焼くと失敗しないと思います 表面が焦げない程度に焼きあがると 中はふっくら、外はパリッとした鰻をカット 1.5~2センチ幅に切りました 和えられたキュウリとワカメにカットした鰻を投入して混ぜ合わせると完成 お皿に盛り付けていただきます キュウリは、少し部厚めにしてシャキシャキ感を残しましたが、妻はキュウリを薄く切っててたら100点やったとの事なので好みの厚さにカットして下さいね 鰻を3切れ残しておきました 少な目の炊きたてご飯に鰻のタレを回し掛けて 鰻を載せて更にタレを掛けてミニ鰻丼 美味しい鰻を堪能出来ました♪ 妻は、甘エビの皮を剥いてお造りを作りました(^_^)

Pleasant environment. Very Japanese style, clean and neat style. Eel was very delicious. Traditional taste, smell very nice without awkward fishy taste. Texture is soft and crunchy at the edge. Served in hot temperature. Good quality. Worthy trying.
