This is both a restaurant and a retail shop for all things Unagi. The retail shop opens at 10am and the restaurant opens at 11am. Believe it or not this place gets packed for lunch, testament that locals enjoy the eatery. We were the only tourist. The decor is brand new, feels like it was built in the last year or so, well designed and spacious. Once seated the menu is simple, unagi small medium and large, and option to add the grill innards. We ordered one of each and when the food arrived we salivated greatly. The unagi is thick, with bite and the sauce along with rice is the perfect combination. The charcoal flavour is not overpowering and the innards have a nice bite and flavour to it, no fishy funk to it, like eating chicken gizzards. Suffice to say we devour our sets. Each set comes with unagi, rice, soup with unagi bits and some pickles. This restaurant has the full unagi experience, they farm their own eel, serve it in their own eatery and if you want to take the experience home, there’s precook frozen unagi you can buy after the meal.
