My stay at Tanoshi in Chizu town, Japan, was nothing short of extraordinary. This unique guesthouse was the highlight of my trip and the main reason I visited Japan. My group of three arrived by car, and the journey to this hidden gem was well worth it. The property itself is beautifully designed, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern comforts. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, offering insights into the local culture and ensuring we felt right at home.

A cozy spot that hits it just right for weary travelers on a fall day. In addition to a mix of pasta dishes, (there was a wild boar option too) the ambiance and price was just right. I loved the long wooden tables that invite conversations and the option to use the lap blankets to fight off a chill. The service was friendly and we even got our request for more bread to be filled--a rarity so far in Japan. All in all a good experience. The chic bar looked appealing too. Customers looked like regulars who would be willing to chat with strangers....
