Katsuyu — Restaurant in Fujinomiya

This hidden gem was absolutely amazing. Best tonkatsu I’ve ever had and it was so authentic, made from scratch in the back (we could hear them pounding the cutlets haha). This older Japanese couple run this restaurant, they speak almost no English and were fascinated to find out where we were from (you can tell it’s a place the locals go, not a lot of tourists). It’s near a bus stop on your way down from the Fuji viewing areas and definitely worth the detour. This place is a hidden gem in Fujinomiya. The pork was so juicy and full of flavor. It was pounded and cooked to order, and some of the best Katsu I have ever had. Paired with the perfect bowl of rice and a cold beer, I was in heaven! 食材にこだわりが感じられる、とんかつ屋さんです。

メニューにオランダ産カメリア印のラード使用と書かれていました。 高級ラードとご主人の揚げの技術のおかげで、こちらのとんかつで胃もたれをしたことは一度もありません。

ご主人オススメのミルフィーユとんかつは、絶品です。 超薄ロース肉を何層も重ねて揚げているそうですが、全然油っこくありません。 人気メニューで売り切れの日もあるようです。

とんかつの食べ方はすり鉢で擦ったゴマと合わせたソースも美味しいのですが、ヒマラヤ産の岩塩を豚肉の表面にかけて食べて欲しいです。 岩塩が豚肉の甘味をさらに引き立ててくれて、最高に美味しいです。富士宮市内で岩塩を置いているお店は珍しいと思います。

また私はこちらのご飯が大好きです。炊き加減も味も抜群で、いつもおかわりしてしまいます。 ご飯とキャベツは、１回までおかわり出来ます。

最後に女将さんが絶妙なタイミングでコーヒーを出してくれます。 食後のコーヒーまで付いて、ランチ900円(税込)はコスパが良すぎだと思います。大満足です。
