Mare — Restaurant in Fukui

We live far (about 250km away) so we can't visit often, but this place was definitely the focal point and reason we went to Fukui for the second time in about a year. And we're definitely going back hoping for a more beautiful and sunny day since both times we visited were unfortunately cloudy (but still worth it!!)

Their drinks and food are all delicious but I highly recommend the croissants. They often have different ones (different fillings and flavors) being baked throughout the day so make sure you get one when you get there and keep an eye for what's coming our of the oven. My favorite one is the spinach and feta cheese but all the ones I tried...

My family and I had a very pleasant evening at MARE! It was a surprise by my wife to take me here for my birthday. Our host's name was Honoka ホノカさん。She was kind and courteous. We had some difficulty communicating in Japanese, but all of the staff was very accommodating. They even made a very nice little birthday dessert for me and sung a song - very traditional! The food, drinks, and service were all great. There was a little mistake made with the total cost of the meals, but it wasn't a big deal. I drove for 1 hour to arrive at the establishment. On the website the service hours marked the opening until 18:30 or last request 30 minutes before sunset. I arrived around 5:20 pm and was poorly attended by an employee who told me without explanation that it was closed. Living more than 20 years in japan, I have never received such a bad and unpleasant service, a total lack of respect for the customer.
