Our family left Nagoya and travelled up north to Ogaki, Gujo hachiman, and then Gero. We had arranged a one night stay at Hotel Juego,an easy to spot 14-story building at the outskirts of the town. It's location may be a bit deficit for travelers wishing to walk into the town center. However, there was a trade off. We stayed on the seventh floor with an exotic room view of the town and forest trees on the mountain nearby. ||Inside we could feel Juego's past glory from the design and facilities. The room was spacious, clean, with a standard look of Japanese ryokan/western hotel. The exotic Japanese style dining room was on the second floor offering a traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast with an impressively courteous service serving a nice and elegant Kiseki steamboat set on a table above a tatami floor. Hoba leave with miso and walnut warmly baked on a small kiln was exceptionally tasty and scented the room with a burnt leaf smell reminding us of an adventurous scout camp. Onsen pools were at the basement, separated between male and female. Inside each room were two large pools, one was an indoor pool and the outdoor one encroached with a wall with no roof meeting the need for an open air and privacy. ||At night, we saw a furry snow fall covering the pine trees with a white winter look in March! The weather outside must be cold but our rooms were warm for us to enjoy a good night rest.||||The staff that we met made us feel their appreciation for the guests from their energetically good service minded. It had reminded us once again of a local business trying to survive the market competition in this new decade. We reviewed this hotel with a cheerful wish for Juego and other hotels of this kind to maintain their glorified past of the traditional standard Japanese hotel for many more years. ||All the best from...
Read moreI really enjoyed our stay while at this hotel. In terms of the room is very spacious. Service was pretty great. They were accommodating to us since we had a lack of Japanese (not to say do not know your basics or expect english accommodation all the time). I like how they had an open air bath option, which was open for about 30 minutes and you had to reserve it during check-in. You also could reserve karaoke if that was something that you were interested in when we checked and we were informed that we had free tea and coffee as well as Ramen. overall, this is a good hotel that I would...
Read moreAlthough the building itself seems to be old, but the room was quite spacious and decently clean. We had a relaxing stay at this hotel with their very comfortable beds. Unfortunately, the hotel is not in the Gero town center, and you need to travel by car or taxi. Nevertheless, the onsen bath was very good with alkaline onsen bath soothing the body after a tiring walk around Gero town. The buffet dinner was very good which includes...
