Stickywich — Restaurant in Ginowan

Stickywich is a great example of American City-style subs, hoagies, and rolls with a bit of a Japanese flare to it! There's a reason why this is a staple among those who live close to it.

Getting the Teriyaki Chicken sandwich, the bread was fresh and had a nice crunch and chew to it. A "half-sized" sandwich was closer to about an 8" roll. The outside was crunchy, but the inside was nice and fluffy with a moist chew. They filleted a whole chicken breast in a nice mild teriyaki sauce, mayo, and crisp lettuce. The breast meat was tender and the whole sandwich itself was very saucy and juicy.

Perhaps the real sleeper item was their french-fries! They were fresh and were an exceptional steak-house style cut of fry. These fries were thick, and incredibly fluffy and moist on the inside, with a textbook golden fry around them. These fries were above exceptional, and one of the best fries I've had on the island so far! I would come back to this restaurant just for the fries alone!

Overall, the sandwich was very solid and very reminiscent of American portion sizes. Everything appeared fresh, and it had an overall quaint upper-inner-city vibe to it. A nice place to chill and eat a very solid sandy.

Store sometimes seems to closer a bit early (like around 1830), so the earlier you arrive the better. Credit Cards accepted.

I’ll say first that Stickywich is well known and well liked in Okinawa, I’ve been here several times over the past two years with no issues. However, I visited in the afternoon of 31AUG2024 and noticed some unhygienic practices, in addition to poor service. While I was waiting in line, I saw an employee eat a fry as he was bagging an order. This seemed unprofessional but whatever, maybe he did it without contaminating anything else. Then, as the same employee was pouring my coffee, he spooned the syrup into my coffee and LICKED THE SPOON before placing it back in the container of syrup. This is so disgusting, and to do it so openly in front of customers is also shockingly brazen. The same employee was also rude while taking my order, which is very minor compared to the fact that he’s putting his mouth all over the food that’s being served. This place most definitely gets a 5 out of 5. My family and I were craving subs but didn’t want the typical Subway or Charlie’s. We had heard so much about Stickywich and decided hey let’s give them a try. We weren’t disappointed at all. The jerk chicken sub had just the right heat and was very flavorful. We also ordered the Philly cheesesteak sub which was loaded with steak and they had the right idea about the type of cheese to combine with it. The fries were crispy and cooked to order as is everything else. I had an Orion beer to wash down my dinner and everyone got a soda. The ambiance was very welcoming and relaxing. I loved the hip hop and r&b that played in the background. The food is very affordable and staff were very down to earth and very polite.
