Larry's Company — Restaurant in Hamamatsu

I have a blog dedicated to pet friendly restaurants in Japan and when I saw the great reviews of Larry's company I had no doubt I would like it to be featured in my next post.

However, upon our arrival we were greeted by a not-so-pet-friendly young lady who lectured us about the etiquette rules of the place. Mind you, I think all establishments have the right to inform the clients of their rules, but in Japan this is usually done in a very polite tone. Before entering the restaurant our dog had peed a little on the vase in the parking lot and she asked me very curtly to wash it and pay attention to the etiquette when going inside.

Since Japanese is not my first language, I thought I had misunderstood her attitude and got inside the restaurant anyway. I asked the same clerk if I could use a pet sheet because I hadn't brought a dog diaper, while explaining that my dog was not used to peeing inside so it shouldn't be a problem. I was told in a very rude manner that I couldn't be sure that he wouldn't do it.

We should've left by then, but we had driven for almost one hour just to visit the restaurant, so we stayed and quickly ordered something from the menu. My husband saw the picture of a dog sitting on the dining chair and we thought it was ok to put ours there to take a picture. The same rude clerk rushed to our table and said we couldn't do that because the chair wasn't covered with a special dog seat. Again, the restaurant is not wrong in having rules, I just think these should be clearer and informed in a more polite way.

The only good things about this restaurant were the view of the lake and the nice older clerk, who was the only person who actually seemed to like dogs (and people).

Will definitely not go back. The whole time I had the feeling that we were not welcome there and I left with the impression that the special treatment we got was because we are foreigners.

【ワンコ＝店内OKのドッグカフェ】

以前宿泊した宿で、犬が粗相しても大丈夫なようにコチラのマルチカバーを布団の上に掛けていたのが良かったので買いに行きました。 駐車場は、道路向かいに3台程度しか駐められないのですが、店内は広かったです。 店舗は建物の2階で、入ると南国調の明るい雰囲気でした。 店の半分がドッグカフェで、奥がペットショップでした。

先に食事をしましたが、事前情報でアップルパイが絶品と多くのクチコミがあったので食べてみましたが、 温かいものの、(正直)パリパリ感も失われ、普通でした。。 食事のメニューも食べてないけど、ハンバーグとかカレーとかメニューは豊富で、選択肢が多いのはありがたいです。 犬にも、ペットの｢馬肉のやわらかボイル｣を愛犬に与えたところ、メチャクチャ美味しかったのか？狂犬のような喰いでビックリ!! よほど美味しかったんだと思います。又食べさせてあげたいです。

マルチカバーの件ですが、色がチョット飛んじゃったとか、ほつれが1カ所有るなどのB級品が半額程度で売っていたので、買う気満々の我々としては安く買えて良かったです。 いろいろなサイズが合って、今回はソファーの座面に使えるものも買いました。 ペットグッズもオリジナルのものがいろいろあって、もう少し時間をかけて見たら、余計なものも買ってしまったかもしれません。 カフェエリアも、テーブル同士が離れているので、のんびりできる雰囲気あって、ついつい長居してしまうような...
