Take Sushi — Restaurant in Hayashima

I came to this little nook under the recommendation of my host at the Igusa guesthouse and oh my what a treat it was! The store is run by the sushi chef and his wife, they do not speak a word of English, but that's not a problem with Google translate.

I got a nigiri set followed by an otoro set, I also had two bottles of sake along with the meal.

I came to learn that the chef is 79 years old and that he's been a chef for 55 years. The shop has been opened since 1965!

I had a great meal and a fun conversation with the kind man. The fish was fresh and the sushi was delicious. My meal also came to only 3200 yen, so it was quite affordable.

I'm glad I was able to visit this little gem! I highly recommend it for future visitors of the Igusa guesthouse as it was only about 5 minutes away...

We were staying in Igusa hostel and decided to try out this sushi bar (march 2016). We got the warmest welcome of the owners and were treated with the best Japanese hospitality. The owners did not understand English but you just point to the fish you want, and your sushi gets served immediately.
