Kuten-an — Restaurant in Hiroshima

The attitude of the staff are unfortunate. I only asked for お米 (rice) which is not a strange thing to ask in Japan. The waitness had a look of pure irritance, and said they only serve what is on the menu. She then rudely asked if I understand Japanese. The entire conversation was in Japanese, of course I understand Japanese. I only asked for rice. If that was not bad, she then started complaining about my request to the kitchen staff loudly, which I could hear and understand the conversation. This is a very rude place that actually upset me. We read the reviews and went without any expectations on the hospitality. But our experience was good. The waitress took the order patiently and the food was served within a decent waiting time. Mochi was great. Try the warm Mochi which tasted better. Udon was also good and my daughter loved it. The retro style of the restaurant was so good and the small pond with Momiji trees made it more pleasant. Though it is not autumn, the fresh green leaves have their own charm.

Getting such an experience for a very reasonable price is great. We will go...

Great place to stop by for a short snack or meal after a long hike up the mountain! Unfortunately they sold out of the warubi mochi when we arrived around 2pm so we couldn't try it.. but the red bean cookie was good. The udon was also tasty, and only ¥670. The prices are a bit high here for what small meals you get but I guess you also pay for the convenience since there aren't many restaurants in the area.
