We stayed here for two nights, and when I booked, I asked whether I could have vegan dinners. They said yes, though the menu would be the same for two nights. Actually, the menu for the second night (29/10/2024) was different for most of the dishes, and all the dishes were incredible for the both nights. I’d been worried whether I’d be able to enjoy dinner with my family at a hotel in Japan, but it turned out I could.
In contrast to the food, the service wasn't good. This is why I have to deduct the stars. As soon as we entered the restaurant on the second night, one of the waitresses passive-aggressively greeted us, “Thank you for coming again!” probably because they had to serve me a different, vegan course. After all, being vegan is still different from the normal in Japan, and being different and asserting personal needs in Japan isn't ok because it disturbs the collective peace.
Also, the same waitress and a waiter were chatting, and when I needed water, I had to wait until they stopped chatting and noticed that I needed something. After we asked the waiter for one more cup of tea, he brought us cups of tea but left them not in front of us but at corners of our table probably because he wanted us to leave. It was still 8ish, and the restaurant closed at 9 pm. I felt this passive-aggressiveness in the atmosphere, and that made me uncomfortable.
