Matsuya — Restaurant in Joetsu

Interesting Matsuya branch. There are two meal ticket machines -obviously a good idea. But one of them was out of order. Which was specially unfortunate since its menu included horse mackerel and oysters. And the other, properly functioning, meal ticket machine only had the regular Matsuya menu. So that was rather frustrating. Service is, even by Matsuya standards, super speedy. And the food is great. Somewhat mysteriously I got tonjiru instead of the regular miso soup I thought I had clicked on, but I was happy about it. I hope it becomes possible to order fried oysters at Matsuya in the future. I always see this restaurant whenever I go to eat sushi or curry but I never go in it. Went for the 1st time for lunch last week and it was amazing. Lots of variety to choose from and the price is reasonable. Went back again the following day for dinner. I loved the pork miso soup. Rich miso flavor and a bit sour which is perfect. Neither good nor bad, same Matsuya different location. I like Yoshinoya rather than Sukiya but it’s good for quick bite anyway.
