Yamaichi — Restaurant in Kamifurano

Stopped by here for lunch on our way to Biei, and my, were we pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious! I really enjoyed my beef noodles, while my dad got the good ol 卤肉饭 braised pork rice. We initially got a mixed flavoured ice cream to share, but my dad loved it so much I ended up getting another of my own 😂

Owner was super nice and friendly, spoke pretty good English! He asked us where we were from when we first arrived, then provided us with a map of Furano during our meal and introduced the place to us. A very nice local cafe, and a gathering club for local cyclists. The lavender gelato is great, but the most amazing were the freshly harvested asparagus from the owner’s greenhouse at the back, simply grilled with a little salt. Delicious. We took a bike tour organized by the owner (Mr Yamaichi) who took us along the river to an amazing blue pond (15 km ride with a 250 m elevation). 5 Stars is the only fitting review for this place. Impeccable hospitality, delicious food and an outstanding atmosphere. If you're in the area and do not visit here. You're doing yourself an injustice. Order anything with the asparagus! They grow their own out the back of the building!
