Doutor — Restaurant in Kawasaki

I would give no stars if possible. Today, in this cafe, a friend and I experienced a sad part of the 'new Japan' under Covid. A racist old lady, with nothing better to do, decided to pick on us because we were having too much fun drinking coffee and talking without masks (although there were at least three other Japanese people doing the same thing). She first came and complained to us that we had to wear masks. Then, after politely asking her to leave, she asked the staff to call the owner, who, upon arriving at the restaurant, decided to ask us to wear masks because the old lady was upset. To put this in context, we had our newly paid for drinks (which we were drinking) on the table and were sitting alone with no immediate neighbors left or right, at a separate table , nearest to the door. Across the room from us, other Japanese patrons were also sitting without masks and enjoying themselves as we had been doing prior to the harassment from this lady.

I asked the owner why the other Japanese people did not have to wear masks and he was silent. My friend asked him if he was prepared to ask them to wear masks also and he did not want to do that. So I told him that he was a coward and a racist and we left the cafe. What was funny was that the man was young and understood English very well. Certainly well enough to know what a racist is. So beware, if you are a patron of this cafe and are a 'gaijin' , then you will be putting money into the pockets...

初詣を兼ねて、よみうりランド近辺でこの辺りの神社やお寺巡り。 1時間ほど歩き回って休憩しようと読売ランド前の駅前に出ると、ドトールコーヒーが見えたので、こちらで休憩です。

入ってみると、15時半でティータイムの真っ最中ということもあり、お店の中はほぼ満席。辛うじて空いていた席で２層のチーズケーキとアイスコーヒーのケーキセット(610円)を頂きました。

２層のチーズケーキは、レモンの香りが爽やかで甘さは控えめですが、上層のレアチーズのクリームが滑らかでとてもクリーミーで美味しいです。食べ進んでいくと、クルミが入っていました。このクルミの香ばしさがアクセントになっていて、いい感じです。ケーキの甘さが控えめな分、食べやすくて食が進みます。あっという間に食べてしまいました。 この２層のチーズケーキは初めて食べましたが、この価格でこの美味しさは相変わらずドトールのケーキセットはＣＰ高いですね。

お店はさほど大きくありませんが、座席のレイアウトを工夫してあって、シングル席が多目に作られていて、ひと休憩するには便利そうな感じです。

日が暮れるまでもう少し時間があるので、もうひと歩きです。...
