Reef Burger — Restaurant in Kumamoto

Kumamoto has a lot of burgers so Reef has some competition. The experience is good, customer service is good, the menu is great. The burger itself is the reason for minus 1 star. I had the smoked bacon cheeseburger, my wife the avacado cheese burger. They use a meat sauce on their burgers. My wife didn't like it, it reminded her of the cheap Japanese Italian restaurants. It reminded me a great meatball like my mother makes, I liked it. But both of us felt the meat patty was overcooked and dry. The party seems to be a problem for Japanese burgers. They are either too juicy and fatty or too dry. Pork/beef mix is too fatty for burgers. So places that try to use pure beef can find it with with enough fat. It tends to be some expensive cut, which makes for dry burger, and they seem to know to add things like egg yolk to the mix.

Anyway. It's was a good burger. Just not one of the best. They have tons of stuff on the menu, so I'll be back. The atmosphere is great and its a great burger experience. I also recommend getting a shake with you burger. They are...

Quite possibly the best burger place in Kumamoto city. The portions are absolutely enormous so make sure you go there with a healthy appetite. 重たいドアを押し開けると、ふわっと立ち上るグリドルの香り。 「いらっしゃいませ！」 陽気な店員の声に迎えられ、カウンター席に腰を下ろす。 メニューをめくると、一番上に 〈BACON CHEESE BURGER〉。 ―― 一番人気、か。こういう時は看板メニューに賭ける。 「ベーコンチーズバーガーを。飲み物はペプシで。」

鉄板で焼けるパティの音が、リズムを刻む。 ジュワーッ……いい音だ。 分厚いベーコンがカリッと反り返り、チェダーが溶けていく。 視覚も嗅覚も、俺の空腹を煽ってやまない。 「これは……デカそうだぞ。」
