Akaoni — Restaurant in Kyoto

Akaoni is a delightful, friendly, bright eatery with great staff and amazing food. Affordable, delicious, and great portions. In winter, a cup of onion soup will warm you as you watch the snow fall through the big glass windows, and in spring, summer and fall some miso will help you enjoy the blossoms and leaves you can see from your seat.

The fried giant shrimp are delicious! But si is the karage chicken - crisp and delicately spicy. Mmm!

Perhaps the only restaurant in tne whole Katsurazaka area if you ignore the nearby Kyoto University's students dining facilities. The chef here is famous for visiting the South pole twice with the Japanese expedition teams. And you may have his South pole dish here which I found not that exciting. What I like and perhaps tbe best here is the fried jumboo prawn course which is simply delicious and you may not find anywhere else. 以前から気になっていた赤おにさんに行ってきました。 土曜日の11時半頃にお邪魔しましたが、先客が1組いらっしゃいました。 もう注文は決まっていましたが、メニューを眺めて…うん、やっぱりエビフライランチに決定。（笑） 注文して程なく続々とお客さんが来られて、あっという間にほぼ満席になりました。 いやいや、大盛況ですやん。 ちなみにエビフライランチは、15分くらい時間が掛かるとのことでした。 先にカップスープ（コンソメスープ）が運ばれてきて、スープを味わっていたら、料理が運ばれてきました。 大きなエビフライが3尾！！！テンション上がります。ご飯はやや少な目かな？ あと、できればお箸がセットされていたら嬉しかったかな…頼めば持ってきてくださるのかも知れませんが。 肝心のエビフライですけど、衣が大袈裟過ぎず美味しくいただきました。 衣が厚すぎたりすると、胸焼けするお年頃なもんで。（汗） あと、南極シチューとかめっちゃ気になるんですけど？ ディナーのみなんかな？残念です。 また、お邪魔したいと思います。 ご馳走様でした。
