If you are looking for a place to grab lunch before heading into the caves, this is a great place to enjoy some burdock noodles. Was a hard choice between soba and udon, but those that know me, know that I am a big udon lover. The scent of burdock could be overpowering, but the beef broth combination was fantastic. It is the restaurant in front of Akiyoshidai Cave. I tried tempura gobo udon, Gobo is the name of the plant that the Japanese usually eat their root. It is delicious. Let's try!!! In the restaurant, there is also the souvenir corner.

Burdock udon was great! The roof tile soba was interesting as well, but the udon was very nice and tasty, decent sized as well. The complimentary tea from the machines was surprisingly good. Attached to a gift store.

My first experience with kawara soba. I loved it! I would definitely want to go back and try some more. Nonetheless the store's ambience isn't particularly nice. It is conveniently located near the entrance of Akiyoshidai cave. Grab some lunch or dinner after you leave. Unfortunately it does not open early enough to have breakfast...
