Tempura no Yama - Minoh Main Shop — Restaurant in Minoh

An exceptional tempura place that I randomly went after going to the nearby liquor store. You are greeted with two ticket vending machines with their menu. I suggest ordering their seasonal menu with a side extra of soba noodles for an extra 100 yen.

The space inside can easily accommodate around 50 people. Water and green tea is self-service. You are greeted with a tray or two and they will in turn give you the menu items if you ordered a set meal. The best part is when they have finished frying the tempura and they go front of your seat, tongs in hand, and they hand to your tray your mountain of fried food, explaining each one by one. I find that gesture very fulfilling and hospitable. I wowed when the server actually made two trips for my tray of food (they gave me two LARGE shrimp tempura on the second trip). In the rare case that you want to order more, you can ask one of the waiters and you just need to pay to them in cash.

Restoran tempura yang cukup terkenal di Kota Minoh. Nuansa tradisionalnya terasa cukup kental.

Cara pemesanannya dengan vending machine yang terletak di pintu masuk. Paket-paket dan pilihan menu yang ditawarkan cukup banyak, dengan harga yang relatif murah. Terdapat pula pake tempura don (favorit saya). Sayangnya pada vending machine tersebut tidak ada bahasa Inggrisnya. Cukup menyulitkan bagi yang tidak bisa baca/tulis/bicara dalam bahasa Jepang.

Setelah memilih dan membayar, kemudian kita masuk ke dalam ruang restorannya dan menyerahkan kupon kita kepada pramusaji. Namun jika kondisi masih ramai, kita akan diminta untuk duduk menunggu terlebih dahulu sampai kemudian dipanggil untuk duduk di tempat yang telah ditentukan.

Hidangan tempura yang disajikan menurut saya lumayan enak. Rasanya simpel tapi enak menurut saya. Tempura dimasak fresh di depan kita (duduknya model bar gitu). Sehingga tempura yang disajikan akan renyah dan kriuk. Terdapat pendamping tempura seperti nasi (enak sekali nasinya), serta soba dan miso. Untuk minumnya, ada green tea atau oolong tea yang tersedia refill-able.

Pelayanan cukup cepat (walau di jam sibuk) dan sangat ramah. Walau agak kurang lancar berbahasa Inggris namun para pramusaji sangat sigap dalam melayani para pengunjung...

You're required to buy a ticket for what you want through the vending machine outside. Go in and the staff will guide you to your seat. They'll ask if you want an upgrade for your meal for ¥100. Rice + Miso. Decline if you don't want it. I took the offer and it was good. Definitely need the rice. They'll serve the tempura one by one, hot from the fryer...
