motobu seafood — Restaurant in Motobu

My partner found this absolute gem of a restaurant the day before we went, as we were looking for somewhere relatively close to have lunch the next day. We made a reservation for 12:30 and we were the only table when we arrived (however, that quickly changed). It took us a little while to decide on what to order, but ultimately went with the tuna, uni, and ikura don and a grilled seafood set.

The presentation and customer service here is fantastic. We had an amazing view of the ocean and a lovely breeze, all while sitting on a bed of coral. The owner is very friendly and you can tell he is dedicated to quality.

In Vancouver, a bowl this size and quality would run us about double the price we paid for here. The uni was fresh and creamy, the tuna was soft and meaty, and the ikura was perfectly salty and firm.

The grilled seafood is really what blew me away. The sheer size of the prawns, oysters, and scallops shocked me. They’re huge! Probably the biggest I’ve ever seen in my life. I was worried that may take away from the taste, but it didn’t. The scallops and prawns were slightly sweet, and tasted amazing with butter and lemon. The clams and the oysters were tasty as well, but the juicy prawns and roe-on scallops really stole the show for me.

We really enjoyed our visit here, and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who’s looking for delicious...
