Your primary reason for visiting Pizza In The Sky should be the "dine with a view" asset, to be honest. The food was OK, but it's not what would have me come back.
We arrived about half an hour after opening time (during the week), and it was slowly starting to get crowded already. Luckily, we did not have a wait time. There are Japanese seating options but also picnic table style options. The menu is cleverly written on a fan. The drinks come served on little cloth shirts with floral patterns. All very cute!
As for the pizza, they only have two options: plain cheese or mix. The mix will be green pepper, white onion chunks (uncooked, just thrown on), cheese and meats. My mom had a small plain one and I had the medium mixed. Apart from having cheese, the small one was also covered in pepper; so much it made my mom cough every time she took a bite. As for the mixed one, it was OK except for those onion chunks. Having white onion that's not been cooked in a pan prior to throwing it on a pizza is just not yummy. With every time I bit down on one of those pieces, I lost more of my appetite. I didn't finish my last two slices purely because I was done with the onion taste.
On a brighter note, their acerola...
Read moreHours 1130-1900 Thurs-Mon. I do recommend it. Husband and I stopped on the way back from the Mt. Yaedake cherry blossoms in early February. We waited probably 30 minutes for a table at 3pm but they were very polite and tables turned often. If you want to get take-out only, instead of waiting for a table, that is an option. But the wait afforded us the chance to walk out to the overlook and enjoy the views. We sat outside in the covered, detached porch which was a comfortable area with large tables. Food menu is small pizza, big pizza or salad. The pizza is very hot and a little too cheesey for my tastes but the dough/crust is great and the toppings were plentiful. The amount of food you get is good for the price. I also got mango juice which was very tasty. Then we tried the frozen mango cubes in sweet sauce. In a word, amazing. But take your time eating them because they are very frozen in the center. They boxed our remaining pizza to go which I’ve never seen a Japanese restaurant do. Overall, great experience. Only said 4/5 because I didn’t prefer the pizza with so much cheese but minimal sauce. Husband, who eats more cheese than I can comprehend, thought the...
Read moreWe arrived 3 minutes after they opened and ended up being 19 on the waiting list. The lot was already packed and a line was out the doors. I was expecting something completely amazing with this many people lined up to eat. We waited about 30 min to be seated which wasn’t too bad and you can admire the beautiful view or play a game while waiting. Their menu is on a paper hand fan which is kinda cool, but that’s just means it’s a small selection. They have two pizza options, that’s it! It’s either cheese, or one with peppers, onion, corn, and ham/sausage of some sort. The staff was friendly and the food was served pretty quickly. The pizza was the cheesiest pizza I’ve ever had. Almost too much cheese and had lots of grease. It was good, but had an overwhelming amount of garlic. I was left tasting it for the next couple hours. Over all it was good, but not the best pizza ever. We also had their only dessert option of frozen mango. Not that amazing either. It was a fun experience and the view was great but I probably won’t return. It...
