楓庵 — Restaurant in Nagaokakyo

Please go visit the tea house if you are around and feel like some refreshments! Incredible service from the first moment we entered the room till the end! We cannot forget the friendly and elegant lady owner, always smiling and sharing Japanese tea culture with us. Also my Japanese is limited and so is her English, we somehow managed with what we knew and some help from translation apps. Feel free to talk with her!

The tea and dessert are fantastic too! The menu is extended and we ordered 抹茶 & 玉露 tea, meticulously brewed and presented before us, photo is allowed along the process ( while during some other tea ceremonies I was not permitted to take pictures) During this sakura season we were served small cakes (菓子）decorated with seasoned sakura petals. After we drank up 玉露, she made a small tea leaf salad with ponzu, really special. I forgot to order the tea leaf fried rice, maybe next time! The atmosphere and interior are very cozy too, overall highly recommended.
