20 Nov 2023: Found this place while searching for noodles on Google maps. Located outside the east entrance of Ryukyu University.
I was craving a non-Japanese cuisine and rice noodles (!!), instead of the wheat noodles that is common in Okinawa. Finally came here on a Monday night. A little quiet except for 2 other customers. So I managed to talk to the friendly cashier/waitress Nan. She speaks fluent English, and explained to me that her brother, a Ryukyu University professor, owned the shop. The owner is concerned about Muslim students and the abundance of pork in Japan, so this Muslim-friendly shop does not serve pork. Very considerate, since Thais love pork too.
I wanted to order pad Thai but got the not-so-common khao soi (¥1300, Northern Thai curry noodles with chicken. Not spicy) and passionfruit juice (¥400) instead. Lovely food with warm atmosphere - Thai music was playing.
Hope to be back to try the pad thai! 24 Nov 2023: Went back for the pad thai with chicken (padthai gaiyang, ¥1000)! It was quite quiet except some takeaway / delivery orders. Hope more people can come and try the yummy Thai food if they want a change of cuisine! There are non-spicy / less...
Read moreDiscovered this place on Google maps a few days ago and knew I had to try them. They are very conveniently located. The staff was very nice (I tried to use Japanese and they were very nice about my mix of Japanese and English). The food came out super quick. It tastes great. The only thing I forgot about was getting the spice level adjusted. Next time, I will definitely have to try it with a little more spiciness. I missed getting thai iced tea and theirs hit the spot. The price was...
Read moreThis place was a pleasant surprise! They only take cash, but there's a 7/11 within walking distance if you need an ATM. The food was probably the best Thai food we've had while on island. The red curry and Pad Kei Mao was our favorite. Our kids loved the Pad thai! They had 3 tables for covered outdoor dining with a wonderful breeze that flows thru there and parking right in front of the restaurant. They have plenty of indoor seating if you're allowed. Definitely...
